Subject: Flying bases, what do I do with them?

So, I just assembled an Eldar Fire Prism. It uses a flying base.
The problem is this, the tank is all wobbly on the flying base, and I think it looks stupid. How do I solve this? Should I glue the base to the Fire Prism? I think that would stop the wobbling, but it sure would make transportation harder...

I would try and magnitise the stick to the falcon to give some extra holding strength. Another option is to by an alternate flying base stand from an online dealer (have seen them just don't know where).
A third option is to make your own base. Get some 1/8"-1/4' hardboard and cut it out the size as the round base. Then use a small wooden dowel but to glue onto the base. Drill out the hole on the underside of the tank to accept the larger dowel. You might even be able to find clear plastic ones.
Those are my 3 suggetsions to help out. Yes the GW flying bases stink, you would think they would make the dowels thicker so they wouldnt brake all the time.

DON'T GLUE IT! It WILL break, and then you'll be stuck with a plastic nub stuck in the hole on the bottom of your tank.
What commandercd said are decent ideas. Take a look at this too, it's interesting and would certainly work well: http://www.paintingclinic.com/operations/eldarproject/fireprism.htm It's basically a brass rod glued to the base and then a hollow tube inside the tank that the other one can slip into.

1. take the clear plastic tube that green stuff putty comes in (the kind not resold by GW) 2. cut to desired length 3. glue cap to bottom of wave serpent and tube to 60mm base

Enlarge the hole on the tank (from the 1mm or so to 3mm).
The tank will ride about 5-6mm lower on the post, but the entire mass of it will no longer be held by the nubbin.

DO NOT glue the base on. It will make your life miserable. The best solution I've seen was the use of the big plastic trees from the GW terrain. Take the bottom part of the tree, paint it how you'd like, and put a fat magnet on it and the underside of your tank. It's broader, looks cooler, and your tank will never fall over again. Whatever you choose to use for it, I think some sort of magnetized, custom, vanity base would be your best bet.

I'm really not willing to invest in large magnets or custom bases. However, will it break if I simply let it be as it is? In other words, not glue it on and simply put it on the base when it's time to play? Will it break then?
And what are people's experience with chromedog's suggestion?

I had the same issues. Nothing really fixed it to my liking so I made my own bases.
In the clay section of my local craft store, I found a clear acrylic rolling pin. It's basically a 1 inch thick perfectly round pole of clear acrylic. I sawed it into short segments and carved one end to fit the bottom of the tank, drilled a hole and sunk a pin into the center of the acrylic. The end result is a post with a little nub for the hole that actually supports a larger circle under the tank. The bottom of the post I attached to a cd and added flock and rocks.
The CD barely extends outside of the tank footprint, so it doesn't change gameplay. I keep my original stands on hand in case someone wants to be a stickler about it in a game.
