Hey mates. Well after playing a few 2400 point games w/my DE, a new player at my store recently showed up and began bragging about how amazing his HE are and how he has never lost with them. Spying me playing a game against Ogre Kingdoms, he immediately began bashing the DE and how pathetic and weak they where compared to his might HE. So naturally, he challenged me this coming up weekend to a 3,000 point game which I agreed to and so the stage is set. Now I usually am not much of a competitive gamer, but I kinda want to smack this guy in the face and knock him down a peg or two since he was talking smack and insulting a kid who just started out as Bretonnia and was running Teclis w/Lore of Metal...... Pretty pathetic. However, for our game, I challenged him not to take Teclis to see if he could play without him which he agreed to so I'm definetly looking forward to this upcoming matchup Twisted Evil. After gathering what models I have and borrowing a few from a fellow DE player, this is what I have come up with and I feel it is a competitive list.

*Dreadlord:
-w/GW, Pendant of Kaleth., Crown of Command, Armor of Darkness

*Supreme Sorceress:
-w/Lvl. 4, Tome of Furion, Lifetaker, Talisman of Endurence, Dark Magic.

*Cauldron of Blood (BSB):

Cauldron of Blood:

*Assassin:
-w/extra HW, Rune of Khaine, Touch of Death, Black Locus

*(49x) DE Warriors: (w/Dreadlord)
-w/Full Command, Shields, Banner of Murder

*(49x) DE Warriors: (w/Supreme Sorceress)
-w/Full Command, Shields, War Banner

*(6x) Cold One Knights:
-w/Full Command

*(6x) Cold One Knights:
-w/Full Command

*(9x) Shades:
-w/extra HW's

*(9x) Shades:
-w/extra HW's

*Hydra #1:

*Hydra #2:

Total: 2,998 points

Now this is my "phalanx" army idea I have been wanting to try for a long time so I am really tempted to try it out and from the looks of it, it can be very nasty. Each phalanx will be backed up by a Cauldron of Blood, while the units of Cold One Knights and Hyrdras will secure the flanks and the shades will do what they do best, with my Assassin hiding in the unit of Spears w/my Lvl. 4 sorceress.

However, I have also been considering on dropping a unit of shades in order to run a 3rd Hydra in my army but I'm not too sure if it will be needed and plus I like the idea of running 2x units of shades but is it effective or would I be better off w/a 3rd Hydra in my list?

I'd advise you to drop both units of Cold One Knights for 2 additional War Hydra's. I know, pure cheese, but you want to teach this guy a lesson right?

I would advise you to drop the Assassin, it will die pretty quickly in combat (due to the step up rule).

Since High Elves rely very heavily on Combat Infantry to deal their damage, Witch Elves are an excellent unit against them. The lack of armour save ignoring capability won't matter, as High Elf Infantry models don't have much armour.

I play HE, but the guy you mentioned (if he's actually like that) sounds like a tool.

I'd take as many hydras as you can. Teach him good.
