At GenCon 2011 we got a chance to sit down with Matt Wilson, the driving force behind Privateer Press. We chat with Matt about not only Privateer's games but what he's working on and why he's spending so much time in Hollywood.

Later Russ, Craig, and Raef rev up their Lancer's and take a look at the new "Gears of War" co-op board game from Fantasy Flight Games.

All that and our other not-too-horrible segments including:

- The Hollywood Minute
- Total Fan Girl
- Do You Ever Notice
- & More

At 1:21:00 or thereabouts, the news overlaps with the tag end of the Realm Works infomercial. It only lasts about a minute, but I thought you might like to fix that.

Does the Matt Wilson interview just end? I didn't hear a "Thanks for taking the time with us...." kind of thing, it just ended...

I don't know how I feel about the new subscription plan for The Lost Chapters. I don't really care about getting the segments on their own and faster, so it feels like I will be paying more for stuff I already get for free, just broken up. I know it will be impossible to please everyone, but I didn't see what was wrong with the current subscription plan.

Thanks again for the heads up on the audio editing error in the news. It's been corrected and re-published.

Matt Wilson: Yeah, that is supposed to end like that. Recorder cut out right at Matt finished his thought. So no happy goodbye was recorded.

Segment by Segment: Thanks for the feedback. Still thinking through the new service. A lot of folks have been asking for smaller chunks and less ads. This is a way to do it but maybe we shouldn't tie it to Lost Chapters. We'll see.

Just up through the news.

I'm 14% (since the ereader I'm using doesn't do page numbers) of the way through Dance of Dragons. The more prudent part of me ponders a very early situation from the point of where I'm reading in concerns to the food in the book. Let's just say that the thought that the spectre of poison hovers over every delicacy seems to temper my desire for such food.

I can't wait for a release of X-wing.

As for the Mouse Guard, I've only recently picked up the rule book, and have been enjoying it immensely. (Remember, it's the GM's job to beat the crap out of the guardmice.) For those not familiar with the setting, you play intelligent mice - which are still just mice...not 2 meter tall genetically enhanced warriors. Ergo, a rainstorm can be dangerous, a hail storm lethal. It does have a very interesting narration mechanic.

Another great episode; loved that there was a redacted part of Matt Wilson's interview. It tells me that he respects you enough to get candid but you respect him enough to honor him not discussing certain things. I wish the so-called "professional" journalists would have that kind of respect.

Glad Craig had a good time at the Spartan race even if it was more like the original Marathon run. I was going to give you some advice for taunting the pugil stick Marines but maybe it is best you did not gain their ire by that time.

Hooray, I just finished the episode.

The Matt Wilson interview was great. While I would have liked to hear more about Level 7, some surprises are a good thing. Almost every question I had, you guys asked; usually with great answers and follow-ups where applicable. Kudos and good-showing.

Even more Mouse Guard in the Hollywood Minute, nice. In a bit of additional news, Diamond (the folks responsible for most comic book distribution) announced that they will be releasing supplements for the game between books. Which, where I read it, was deciphered as a new supplement for in time for Gencon 2012, after the release of the Black Axe trade.

I might have to give Gear of War a play.

Craig, you are just about insane. When I was taking wushu, we'd have to do 20 burpees. Once, we did 40, as our sifu thought we getting soft. I nearly died (well, I felt like I nearly died). So, while you might be close to stark raving, you've also accomplished something impressive. Bravo. Good luck finding Kai a home.

Great Episode!

I liked the Matt Wilson interview. Its cool to here about the stuff he's doing other than PP.

The Gears of War review was great! It makes me want to break out my copy for the Xbox360 before playing the boardgame (I have never actually played my copy of the 360 game believe it or not.)

Good on ya Craig for the Spartan thing. You're a beast! Good luck for finding a home for Kai. I'd take the dog but my kittens might get eaten up.

Good to hear Bohnanza get a mention..... Its a German game, but I cant think what the German word for 'bean' is....

I have great memories of playing that and a couple of other Eurogames. The time is best summed up by one of our German friends announcing in all seriousness 'Ive got wood', followed by the rest of us disolving and having to take a break. Anyway, there are a couple of variants to 'the bean game'. I also have Space Beans...

Another great show in the bag chaps. Congratulations on the Matt Wilson interview. You do seem to be able to get him to open up a little more than most other interviewers. A little more news on the Warmachine miniature shortages would have been welcome though. If Level 7 isn't what people have been discussing on the forums, I guess that leaves spaceships, micro tanks or 54mm miniatures!

Also it looks like the fantasy naval game prediction from the start of the year is definitely going to happen now, courtesy of GW.

Why couldn't Matt Wilson get a drink from the vending machine?
Because he had No Quarters.

Gotta admit, I get a little excited whenever I open my itunes and there's a new episode of D6G. Whenever I tell my wife about a new game I want to play or pick up, she always asks, "Did you hear about that one on your podcast?"
Thanks for all you do fellas.

Thanks for all the kind words, guys. It's funny, but the day or so after the Spartan Race I was sure I wouldn't expand. One of these a year is more than enough (or more than too much), but now, a few weeks out, the memories soften, the sense of accomplishment grows (and my legs stop shaking) . . . and I think . . . why not? Then I go listen to the D'you Ever Notice and lay down till the though goes away. That's the real reason I recorded that edition

Lego Heroica: can't go wrong. I played it with my friend Joe's 9 year old and 7 year old, and they both LOVED it. And we loved it because we were playing with Legos again! Win0-Win! (good movie, by the way).

We still have Kai, but have hopes of a gruff old Korea War vet who seemed to fall in love with him . . .

Quick note: with Extra Life right around the corner, we're all gearing up . . . and I'm cheating this year! The person who donates the most to my page will be featured as a main character in a short story, written by me, published on the Spartan Games website, AND will have a portrait made of them AS that character, by the Spartan Sally, the official portrait artist of the company!

Just go to the D6 Generation website and follow the links to my Extra Life page! Or, you know, one of the other guys too

Thanks, gents!

~Craig

Brings forth all hidden things,
And buries that which once did shine.
The firm resolve falters, the sacred oath is shattered;
And let none say, "It cannot happen here".

So how much do we have to donate to get Craig to play Agricola with Raef?

Ozymadias, that sounds like a great idea. Think of the kids, Craig.
