So I am new to WHFB, and I happen to love the looks of the new TK models; probably going to choose them for a second army after I finish my Ogres. But the point of this post is to inquire how TK's new book affected them. I know before they got an update they were one of the lowest tiered armies; but after it, how are they looking?

Thanks,
GalacticZ

They are dead.

Dead average.

Some nice monsters, cheap basic infantry, decent heroes, great magic.
Can be tooled to pretty much most opponents (if you have the models)

Tomb Kings have gotten a bit more competitive with the 8th edition Armybook. They aren't top 3 for competitiveness, but certainly not bottom 3 anymore either. The new book also has given the Tomb Kings more variety. In my opinion, if you like the Tomb Kings models, this is the ideal time to start an army of them, since there won't be a new armybook any time soon.

Average army, maybe slightly below. They have some descent monsters and the typical death star unit of doom, but their builds are pretty limited beyond that. Some matchups are easy for them, while others are really difficult, especially the top armies. The one top army that they seem to wreck consistantly is Skaven, thanks to their anti-leadership abilities. The best part about the new book is listening to all of the VC players complain about their skeletons still costing 8 per model haha.

So he killed 6 guys in two turns? That's not all that impressive.

By the literal definition of decimate wouldn't he kill 54?

Change and change until Change is our master, for nothing neither God nor mortal can hold that which has no form. Change is the constant that cannot be changed.

No it would be 6 or 1/10th of it. But I doubt he was being literal

I really want to like Tomb Kings but their core choices are just so poor.

Wiped out around 50 of them, then they ran, then I ran the rest down, then took out a warp lightning cannon, with the same warsphinx

Tomb Kings are fairly strong. They have vastly more choices than they did previous book. I think that alone is a huge bump.

I think the general lack of screaming excitement is because they are balanced. You will likely see all other armies fall into line behind them, with BRB items and spells. So milk those top 3 uberfests while you can.
