So I mainly play 40k but a few of my friends at my FLGS play lotr quite a bit, so I was interested in putting together a small army just to get into the game.

After looking through the books I've decided I want to make a Knights of Dol Amroth army. Using only models from Dol Amroth (i'm a big theme list player in 40k too). As I know next to nothing about the game I'm looking for help making a list.

Any experienced players input would be great.

wish I could assist but I play War of the Rings.

Hang in there people are sometimes slow to respond here, but quite helpful.

You going for SBG or WotR?

SBG, you're probably going to want Imrahil mounted, a mounted Captain, a lot of mounted knights, one with a Banner, then a ground force made up of Knights and Rangers of Gondor.

Always remember, Calvary are better on the Charge. Never let them get Charged. Use Imrahil's Might points to move them back a bit if you have to. Also, for maximum efficiency, go for the Infantry. Make your opponent react to you.

But hey laser guns!

Were there be dragons....

I would start small if you want to go down the WOTR track, 800 points is a good starting benchmark
Men at arms are good, decent moral, armour and they have pikes, you cant go wrong with them.
Foot knights are just very expensive warriors, stick to the mounted variety (which are also plastic)
Imrahil is a very offensive general

However you realy want some archers, which the rangers will be perfect for as they fought all over Gondor .
Go for it but bear in mid that its a lot of metal!
