Staying on target.....

Hey everyone, I'm trying to make a semi-competitive raven guard list that has mech but also incorporates a nice amount of fluff, here's what I've got so far:

Captain, pair of LC's, jump pack

10 Man Tactical Squad, PG, PC, PF w/ lascannon razorback

10 Man Tactical Squad, melta bombs, flamer, HB, w/ HB razorback

10 Assault Marines, PF

5 Bikers, PF, MG

5 Assault Termies, 3LC, 2TH/SS

Land Raider Crusader, MM

1500pts.

Main plan is to split the tactical squads in to combats and hold home objective with heavy weapons and the plasma gun. Bikes act as a screen and speedbump for the assault marines and can also tank hunt. Land raider and termies for where the fight is hardest or thickest i.e. other termies, nobs, monstrous creatures.

I am thinking of swapping out the HB on the second tac squad and making it a PC seen as it wont be going anywhere and is generally more useful. Also should I add a searchlight to my LR at all, don't think it's neccesary for all my vehicles but would be nice to cause some damage turn 1 if i happen to get DOW. Or maybe the LC razorback instead?

Any thoughts as how to refine the list and stay mech and fluffy guys?

I would take a Chaplain with jump pack as the Captain is meh, this would give your Assault Squad some punch in assault with re-roll to hit thanks to the Chaplain and still fluff thanks to the jump pack.

Tactical Squads are badly setup. Why a power fist when you cannot charge when using a plasma gun - it's not a good defensive weapon either. I would switch the Razorbacks to Rhinos so your combat squads can fire out the hatch and live a bit longer.

I would drop the Bikes and get more Assault Marines to go with the Raven Guard theme.

The single Crusader might take some heat in game, but I think at this points level it may do ok. Run with and see how it goes, but remember it's taking up nearly 1/3 of your points including the Terminators.

I'm hearing you on the chaplain front, especially as I am not good at rolling dice! save a few points as well

The plasma gun would stay behind with the plasma cannon side of the tactical squad, however I am now considering the rhino option and using the remaining points to get a LS tornado w/ MM to tank hunt/last minute objective contest. Also if I lose the bikes, I can add five assault marines w/ PF and five sniper scouts w/ ML. I'd probably make the assault squads 8 & 7 strong to equal it out a bit too.

Sound good?

Almost good but not quite Assault Squads should be full strength (10 man) and have two units of them. A single Scout unit would be fine for objective taking, consider camo cloaks and you can go to ground for a 2+ cover save .

I would do something like this:

Chaplain - jump pack
Chaplain - jump pack

10 x Tactical Marines w/ Rhino - meltagun & missile launcher - sgt w/ combi-melta
10 x Tactical Marines w/ Rhino - meltagun & missile launcher - sgt w/ combi-melta
5 x Scouts - 5 x sniper rifles & camo cloaks

10 x Assault Marines - flamer - sgt w/ power fist
10 x Assault Marines - flamer - sgt w/ power fist

Any points left consider some long range fire power in the form of a Predator with autocannon and lascannon sponsons or Devastators with 4 missile launchers, with the long range you should do some damage first turn to your opponent and cripple something.
