Subject: Deploying into Ruins?

This came up in a game the other day and we weren't quite sure what to do. There was a multiple level ruin within my deployment zone, and I went to place some lootas on one of the raised levels and my opponent said he didn't think you could deploy into ruins. We tried to take a quick skin through the rule book but we didn't see anything and we were tight on time. So is there anything in the rules that says you can't deploy into a structure if it is clearly in your deployment zone? thanks!

you can deploy wherever you want, so long as it is in your deployment zone.
Ruins, on the second or third level is often a great place for lootas or dev squads.

You should be allowed too. The opponents I played against didn't seem to have any problems with putting their guys in ruins, and they didn't object when I did it. He must be thinking back to the previous edition. There were rules against that in 4th I think.

As long as you are in your deployment zone, and in DOW you are 18" away then you can deploy whever you like, unless its impassible. It does not matter what level of a ruin you deploy into.

Ok, thank you Is there any written rule to state this or is just the exclusion of a rule prohibiting it?

You can't deploy lootaz during DoW

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.

There is not a rule saying you can't - hence it's just assumed you can. Obviously Jidmah has a point for the DoW. Also, you need to maintain coherency.
I vaguely remember a rule that MC and Walker etc can only be on a level of ruins if they can actually be there. You can't say "oh he's there" in that case.

??? I was giving a thorough response. Yes I know it wasn't DOW, I was giving him all of the restrictions for deploying units in his deployment zone. The last thing I needed was to say that you can deploy anywhere in your zone only to have someone come back and say...well not in DOW or impassible terrain.

Ah, that should teach me about answering without quoting.
Akroma, I was responding to mazik.
Mazik, in my first post about DoW I was responding to Akroma.
