I love the High Elf Warlord on Dragon kit, but there's just a few things that I hate about it.

1. I don't like GW paint schemes. I'm not into that flashy color contrasting colors. I like color harmony.
2. I don't like that throne that the figure it on. It looks lame, and impractical.
3. I don't like the reins of the dragon. They look like they are for circus animals.
4. I don't like the helm or head of the figure.

So, I decided to get rid of the head and replaced it with a Dark Eldar Helm. Looks a lot better IMO. I got rid of the reins and replaced them with more normal looking reins. The reins are made out of strips of dollar bills. I also added a cape to the figure from all of the other cloth pieces which weren't used. Here's the pics:

The base, the stone the dragon stands upon, the dragon itself: Everything looks rather well executed.

Only dat helmet my friend... I don't like it. The detail per squareinch is so low on those old DE sculpts, it doesn't fit in. I also don't think you did too good of a job of making the helmet and the rider (and the rider with the dragon, for that matter) look like belonging together... :-/

I don't want to be human! I want to see gamma rays! I want to hear X-rays! And I want to - I want to smell dark matter! Do you see the absurdity of what I am? I can't even express these things properly because I have to conceptualize complex ideas in this stupid limiting spoken language! But I know I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws! And feel the wind of a supernova flowing over me! And I can know much more! I can experience so much more. But I'm trapped in this absurd body!

I agree the Helmet destroys the look or the model. The dragons is painted gorgeously but the riders needs an upgrades from ekkk to awesome...

Nice work, the base looks horrible though.

He's also going to have massive chest wounds every time that thing lands, but that's hardly your fault.

I think the dragon is very impressive...

However, (for me) the rider doesn't fit in at all. His lower torso means he doesn't look very dark eldar-y, and the helmet... well, I really hate the older dark eldar models.

Just in general... it doesn't look 'fantasy' or '40k' enough. The rider is too 40k, whilst the mount is unconverted and hence too fantasy; when the two come together it just looks a little off.

Despite my criticisms, the dragon by itself looks just awesome. I adore the colour scheme, looks really 'natural' and far more intimidating than the happy-go-lucky studio colour schemes.
