I'm a new player to WHFB (usually 40k) and I'm experimenting with a new army list. All my friends are starting at 750 pts. My opponents are Vampire Counts, Dark Elves, and High Elves.

The High Elf player took 17 Archers, a Mage, 10 Phoenix Guard, 5 Horsemen, and a Chariot.
-I'm most concerned with this opponent's massive amount of shots and the crazy "Speed of Asuryan" rule.

The Dark Elf Player took 15 Archers, 15 Corsairs, 5 Black Guard, a Sorceress, and a Hydra.
-I've fought this player before with a TK army, and his magic is insane. TK magic isn't scary enough to dispel, being mostly augment, so he used all of his dispels to shut down my Casket of Souls, and having 4 spells (through items) his magic phase was absolutely devastating. The Hydra is also a huge problem.

The Vampire Counts player is taking 20 Ghouls, a Vampire, 20 Zombies, a Corpse Cart, and a Varghulf.
-Obviously this is intimidating due to Fear/Terror.

So, without further ado, here's what I came up with:

Hero:
-Plague Priest, Level 2, Warp Scroll
(I took the Plague Priest because of the threat of Plague spells. The scroll will be used on my opponent's biggest unit when I can sneak it through with no fear of dispel.) I almost went with a Warlock Engineer, but the Priest's stats are better and Spells of Plague seemed better suited to my needs, though correct me if I'm wrong.

Core:

-25 Clanrats, Full Command, w/ Ratling Gun

-24 Clanrats, Full Command, w/ Ratling Gun
(Priest goes here)

-30 Skavenslaves

The Slaves are obviously cannon fodder. Get them into combat, flank with Clanrats, Ratling Guns blazing all the while. I was unsure if taking 2 of them was cheese, but my opponents are bringing some pretty intimidating things, i.e. the unfairly low-cost Hydra *cough*. I also considered cutting one unit of Clanrats for a 20-strong unit of Plague Monks with the Plague Banner. Any input here is appreciated.

Rare:

-Doomwheel
Self-explanatory.

I don't care how many models I need to paint, I have quite a few. I have a Warp Lightning Cannon, Giant Rats, Plague Censer Bearers, Rat Ogres, etc. I've been collecting for a while but only recently decided to start playing seriously again.

I just need some experienced advice from a Warlord more battle-hardened than myself (which is probably all of you.) Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated!

I personally would dump the Ratling Guns and pick up Warp Fire Throwers. This will allow you to cause some damage to that hydra because the fire will negate the regen. It also does not appear anyone is bringing a BSB to the table and panic tests would be key. I was going to say doom rocket is a must but facing T3 Warp Scroll could do some good, too bad the units are going to be fairly small other then the ghouls. I think at least a level 2 is needed for magic defense and the WS5 and T5 of the plague priest is nice.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

Thanks for the input, Hargus. The Warpfire would be a bigger threat against the Hydra, as is negates the Regen... I was thinking Ratling because of the amount of hit potential there. Would you stick with 2 units of the Clanrats or swap one for some Plague Monks with the Plague Banner?

20 plague monks would do alright, as most of the enemy units are pretty small. If you do get some plague monks, think about getting the plague censer for the priest.
Yes, you kill your own guys with it. However, the T test come at the start of HTH, before ASF. It'll be a good way to take out a few elves.
Instead of the plague banner, think about the dripping death one(STR 3 hit/no AS to all enemies in BTB), or the 2D6 STR 2 hits one. Both of those are at the start of HTH as well.
Between one of those and the censer, the war of attrition could be quickly won. And attrtion is what skaven do.

Rattling guns roll to hit, so it's not as good as it looks on paper. Go with the WFT, or PWM. Tie up a unit with slaves, and fire into combat. All hits are ranomized between the slaves, and who they are in HTH with, so it doesn't matter if you scatter and only hit slaves, the hits are all still randomized.
That being said, you still would've needed LOS to the enemy unit in HTH with the slaves.

Good luck, and if all else fails; WLC, jezzails, WFTs, and a warlock w/doom rocket gunline.

Thanks a lot for all the input guys, it's greatly appreciated. Here's my revised list:

Hero:
-Plague Priest, Level 2, Plague Censer

Core:

-30 Clanrats, Full Command, w/ Warpfire Thrower

-30 Skavenslaves

Special:
-Plague Monks x 15, w/ Full Command and Banner of the Under-Empire (Priest Goes here)

Rare:

-Doomwheel

Only thing I'm concerned about is the Plague Monks unit being too small.
