Subject: Harlies or banshees?

Horrific Howling Banshee

Hey y'all just needed some advice. I am currently expanding my eldar force from 1500pts to 1850. I wanted some advice on what to choose for a backfield CC support squad. I will give you a run down of my list and tactics so you can come up with which would be better harlies or banshees. My first choice that will fill up most of the points will be a full squad of avengers which will take up around 150pts which leaves me enough room for another full squad of something.
Im looking for a CC squad like banshes and harlies, but im ok with the other options like spears. My army specializes in softining up squads and waiting for the inevitable assault which im very much ready for. However, due to the points increase the other player is most likely going to get some nastiness as well so im preparing for the worse case scenario. Im thinking a squad of termies deepstriking into my backfield would give me the hardest time. So yeah this is my army. What do you guys think would benefit me the most to fill up my remaining points?
HQ
Eldrad
Avatar
Elites
Scorpions full squad (outflanking)
Troops
Avengers full squad
Pathfinders x8
Guardians x10 + scatterlaser
Heavy
D reapers full squad
Wraithlord +sword and starcannon
Wraithlord +sword and starcannon
I like to set up with a denied corner theme as far back as possible to give me more turns to shoot. I set up my wraithlords and reapers in terrain. giving them priority with the fortunes. The avatar is going to be in take cover mode and pathfinders wont need to much help, so templates never really bother me to much. I switch the starcannons to brightlances and swords to missile launchers on the lords when facing IG. but yeah a large squad of termies might give me trouble so im thinking another CC squad would be good to keep in the backfield. The problem is I dont know which one would suit my style of play

Well, I'd opt for Harlies as they are hard hitting with kisses and are hard to target when fielding a Shadowseer. This makes them a perfect counter-strike unit.

ohh good idea with the shadowseer. i completely forgot about him. With him i will be immune to incoming long distance fire. Do you think they can survive a round of cc with termies while i get the avatar and lords to them?

If they are fortuned, maybe. They have lots of attacks, and rending if they have kisses.

Moreover, they can hit and run after their charge (in your round). If they move far enough, they might get targeted.

get harlequins with a shadowseer, because banshees would need a serpent wich would cost alot itself (the 4+ armor on them is not great)

Harlies are more versatile, "almost" as effective against Marines, get more from Doom, aren't instapwned by Dreads (and in fact can Hit and Run behind them to cap their Rear Armor with Fusion pistols), etc...

QFT. Your list seems to be a footslogging list, in which case harlies are the way to go. Banshees are pretty useless without a transport. Although they're more than able to take on terminators alone (unless they have SS), harlies can drive your opponent insane with their tricky maneouvers and shadowseer powers

LoneLictor on thread about an ork choking the Emperor:
LoneLictor wrote:I like to imagine the Emperor kills so many Orks that he ends up half buried beneath a pile of corpses, with only his head sticking out. A lone grot stumbles across him, and starts choking him.
Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space. |
