Had an unexpected rules hangup the other day regarding a large blast barrage weapon.
We know that intervening models grant cover saves to units.
We know that barrage weapons draw LoS from the hole at the marker's center.
So what happens if a large blast lands amidst a cluster of models from one unit, yet also clips models beyond?
AAAA B
AXAA B
AAAA B
If "A" and "B" are seperate units, and "X" is the hole of the blast marker, would any wounds on unit "B" be eligible* for a cover save due to LoS being drawn from the hole of the marker?
*Granted there are no special rules from the weapon that deny cover outright.

You kind of answered your own question there.
If there are no special rules for the weapon being fired (or for firing a barage weapon) to deny cover, and LoS is drawn from the center hole, then we can come to a couple of conclusions.
Was LoS traced through intervening models to hit unit B, yes. Does tracing LoS through intervening models grant a cover save, yes.
You already stated that intervening models grant cover.

You and I share the same logic on the matter, but I was throwing it out there for possible other interpretations.
Local players seem conflicted on it

They may be conflicted, but it's a clear issue. In the example you gave, A would not get a cover save, and B would get a 4+ cover save.

As stated before because there are models intervening between B and the blast marker hole B would get a 4+ cover save but the models in A would not
