Hello, i've been into Warhammer 40k for sometime now but it's just been a lot of the books and the dawn of war games, i'd like to get into the miniatures and start playing at my local game shop but i'm kind of torn between which race i should pick
Necrons
Tyranids
Space Marines - probably black templars or ultramarines
It's good to be here! i'm glad that there's a forum for all the 40k nerds like me

Thanks! that thread actually helped a lot! i'm only 16 so until i can find a part-time job i can only occasionally buy miniatures but this made me realize that if i really like the hobby i can collect a couple armies.

Hi and welcome Food. I'd suggest starting with marines. They're the most plentiful and one of the easiest to paint. Plenty of resources on them on the web and it's easy to find 2nd hand stuff. I started out the same way with video games being the gateway drug and have now been into the hobby side of things for 2+ years. Enjoy your stay here and be sure to make a P&M Bog post once you start your army.
