OK, so i was skimming the forum and it seems like almost all tournaments are either 1000+ miles away or already happened. Does anyone know of any 40k tournaments or GT in the southeast that will take place sometime this year?

SergeantHorse here on dakka owns a game store and he regularly posts Atlanta tourny announcements in the forum. I assume that they'll be even more common now that he's moving Giga Bites to a larger location with more tables/room. Treefort Games (another Atlanta area store) regularly runs 40k tournies also. Both stores are on dakka's store locator and list their events on their webpages/forums. Also, Dragoncon used to have a RTT tourney but I didn't check to see if that's the case this year; either way, the con is this weekend so you may have something to do sooner than you think. It also depends on what you consider local as the southeast is quite big.

Thanks for the Help! Gigabites is actually my usual club it just that according to their own forum, their won't be a normal tournament there for a good while. I'll have to look into this other place you mentioned.

It's in Fayetteville (a southwest burb). They just had a tourney a week or two ago and have another one coming up in September. I might even see you there then! (I'm iffy when it comes to tourney attendance.)

Don't forget that there's the 11th Company GT that'll be coming up the Weekend of the 12th in November at Myrtle Beach.

For the southeast, there is Beaky Con in Florida an 11th Company in South Carolina as the only 2 day events that I'm aware of (not sure if they are actually labelled GT events or not). The 11th company event is based off of the NOVA format.

Endless Games (NC) hosted their first GT this past June and would not be surprised to see this become an annual event.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

If Florida isn't out of your reach...

Sci-Fi in Orlando just had one, judging by the name it appears they do one monthly.

Paladin Tech and Games, also in Orlando, has one on october first.

Armada Games in Tampa regularly hosts tournaments, though I'm unsure of the next date.

If near Tennessee I would look at Dicehead Games in CLeveland TN and Grand Adventures in Murfreesboro TN. I know we have the Battle for Supremacy coming up and it is a joint venture between these two stores. Anyone can play but it was originally designed to promote game clubs in the TN area. Not sure on the format and the date yet, though the portents seem to point to November.

When in doubt.........Duck!

Even in the far future there can still be heroes...

visit www.dicehead.com for more info about Dicehead; they usually have updates about tournaments in the area such as Maul in the Mall or the ATC.

The Southeast is a big region, so it might be helpful to know at least which state you are located in. I'm in Gainesville FL and we have tournaments once a month with attendance of 7 - 20 players. Yesterday we had a 1,500 point tournament and 8 players showed up. The next one is on Oct 15th and it's a team event.

If you're in Orlando there are 5 shops each has a monthly tournament. You should be able to get one in every weekend if you wanted to. Also each one will cover lunch.
