I'm starting college a week next Monday, and forgot all about it. But thankfully, I can afford to get myself a new computer, go to college AND got to the dentist.

As the Subject says, I don't know jack about Ghzs or Gigs or anything like that, but I really do need a computer.

I need a computer that can run the Unreal Engine Content development yoke, it says I need this -

Windows 7 64-bit
2.0+ GHz multi-core processor
8 GB System RAM
NVIDIA 8000 series or higher graphics card
Plenty of HDD space

I haven't a clue what any of that means, but I have €1000 to spend, and was looking at these:

XPS 8300: @€949
Intel® Core™ i7-2600 Processor (3.40GHz, 8MB)
English Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium (64 BIT)
8GB 2 Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz
2000 GB3 hard drive (7200RPM)
AMD Radeon™ HD 6770 1GB DDR5 graphics

Aleinware Aurora: @€1199
3.1GHz Intel® Core™ i5-2400 (6MB Cache) Quad Core Processor with overclocked Turbo Boost to 3.6GHz
English Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium (64 BIT)
6GB2 Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz
500GB3 SATA hard drive (7200RPM)
1.25GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 560 TI
Warranty 1 year Next Business Day Hardware

Any help would be great, as I don't know what I'm looking at.

I don't know much about computer but I hear alienware is pretty solid for gaming. and on a side note, if you don't know much about computer, why do you need one that needs to run the unreal engine for college?

Don't buy alienware, they are overpriced. Also I am pretty sure you don't need 8gb ram to run that, that is more than pretty much any game running unreal uses, however if you get 8gb your computer will run smooth as hell for a long while.

The first one is probably best, make sure you get windows 7 though or you probably won't be able to access the full capabilities of the hardware.

The bottom one has 6 gb of RAM, you need 8.
The top has 8, which is great and all, but other stuff takes RAM to run as well, like your operating system.

What you need is a nightmare beast of a computer, pawing the ground with it's fiery hooves.

If those are the 2 your set on I would go for #1. Its 250 cheaper with more hard drive and RAM. With Alienware your paying for a name and a fancier case

The program also requires a processor almost doubly as powerful as thefirst one, and more than the second one has as well.

So... Neither.
Best bet is to build your own off of newegg. Pm me if you need more help.

It requires a 6+GHz processor when the requirements he was given for the class are a 2GHz? I'm not sure you can buy those for around a grand...

Ask them to add more RAM if you want 8GB, select Windows 7 64 Premium and select the GTX 460 OC.

£734 total with the changes I told you to make.

PS: You could even select the GTX 580 and still be within your £1000 budget.

The question isn't why do I kill. The question is, why I don't kill everybody.
