So for someone who isn't very good at working with green stuff what would people recommend as a beginners sculpt. I can do things like spacers for between torsos and legs and wiring and stuff. But they are just sausages and flat discs so nothing to brag about there eh? I have tried making hoods and the odd cape but neither remotely resembled what they were supposed to be.

Skulls on bases. It has a 3 dimensional feel but you don't have to sculpt in the round.

Insanic's articles here on Dakka are a good start.

My tutorials aren't articles. You can find them in the P&M Tutorials section here, or in the Tutorials section on my own website (in my sig).

Hey man just read the tutorials on your site, love the marine with custom heavy Bolter by the way. Looks sick. All four of those tutorials are really good. Will definitely be giving them a go. The skull one is particularly excellent.
