If a unit has a dedicated transport, does the transport need to be killed before the unit can count as killed in an annihilation game?

No, they are two separate kill points.

No, they are two separate kill points.
Does the same go for drop pods?

Every unit in Annihilation is worth 1 KP.
A Rhino is a KP since it is a unit of 1 model.
A Drop pod is a KP since it is a unit of 1 model.
A unit of 5 infantry is a KP since it is a unit.
A unit of 30 infantry is a KP since it is a unit.
Etc.
Basically anything that is a unit is a KP.

See P3 for the definition of unit. Without a solid understanding of this you'll have problems with all sorts of rules.
