I don't recall if it is specifically addressed in the rulebook, but they're separate units so there is no reason that you wouldn't be able to do so. In the current edition, deployment at least in the standard missions is all about units, not FOC slots.

And before anyone follows up, I know you can't throw another unit off table into the transport. It has to come on empty....
