I know this is a weird question, but here it goes:

In most games I play the gun expert glass - Sniper, Hunter, etc.

Which army out of these two should I play:

Nurgle Space Marines
Imperial Guard

Can someone list the pros and cons of each.

Know this is a lot to ask, so thanks in advance.

Uh...actually, I think we need more info. Are you trying to branch out, or are you asking which army will be better with snipers/hunters/etc? If you are branching out, it depends which you like the fluff of better (but people will tell you IG are more competitive). If you want to focus on those types of units, IG will be better with Ratlings, Creed (outflanking unit), the fast attack horsemen, and similar stuff. Like I said, we need more info to go on. Either way, IG will be more competitive. Depending on what you are asking, Nurgle may be more fun. I just can't answer your question better. Welcome to Dakka, by the way.

Imperial guard, because of their range, however, it'd be a good idea to look at all armies before making your decision, just to be sure.

Every game I play I tend to go for ranged attacks, but decent armor. Such as a hunter in World of Warcraft.

What army fits that description?

Imperial Guard. Long range artillery and lots of heavy armor.

Based on what you said, IG. Nurgle won't give you what you want. It would be a good option for a change of pace though.

Honestly you might get more out of running eldar. Not that well armored, but have that sense of hunting and stalking enemy forces.

However currently they sort of suck as an army.

My friend's attempt at Space Wolves would like to disagree with your argument that Eldar suck. Apparently, 40 Rangers in cover is a very rude tactic. Glad I used it, as he doesn't like Rhinos

Honestly, I have no issues about being wrong about that. I love eldar fluff and models, but everything I ever seems to read says they are in need of an update pretty bad, only dire avengers are worth fielding, all of their weapons are glass cannons, etc. etc. If I wasn't trying to finish my IG, I'd get to work on my beloved eldur. Still need to find a paint scheme though.

So I am guessing that most people are saying the IG have great guns and not push overs.

So IG wins over Choas Space Marines.

I went ultra nerdy with my Eldar and made them all suits of Iron Man armor. Gets really cheap when you realize people sell Guardians for pennies and with a bit of converting, you don't need to buy anything else except falcons/wave serpents. I have 40 Rangers that are all Guardians, painted in Iron Man stealth armor colors (Black primer, dry-brushed Regal Blue, Red uni-beam/eyes, Gloss coat). I loved working on them, but I just couldn't finish them

Your infantry wear paper armor, your walkers have tinfoil, and your fast attack skimmers have heavy duty cardboard, but man oh man people fear IG tanks, and for good reason.

Guard can put tons of shots onto the table, they are a good choice if you like shooting.
