OK so I made this list so I could run it in a tournament that's coming up in a few weeks. I'm hoping that it would be good vs. many different armies because there will be a lot of marines and GK. It's exactly 1500pt. so please criticize, comment or tweak at your discretion. Thank you.

HQ - Eldrad

HQ - Avatar

Troop - 10 Guardians with BL on W.P. and a Warlock with Conceal.

Troop - 10 Dire Avengers with Exarch. Bladestorm, Defend, Power Weapon, and Shimmer Shield.
Wave serpent TL Starcannons, Spirit Stones, and Vectored Engines.

Troop - 5 Pathfinders

Elite - 6 Fire Dragons with Exarch. Fire Pike,Tank Hunters, and Crack Shot.

Heavy Support - 4 Dark Reapers with Exarch. E.M.L., Crack Shot and Fast Shot.

Heavy Support - Falcon with Pulse laser, Starcannon, Holo-Field, Spirit Stones, and Vectored Engines.

What do you think?

Personaly I dont think the fire pike, tank hunters and crack shot is worth it and I would change the pathfinders for a wave serpent so that the fire dragons have transport.

Fire Prisms will give you an advantage vs MEQ with the ap3 blasts. That Falcon looks pretty expensive. Those Dire Avengers are horribly overcosted. I'm a big fan of Guardian Jetbikes, but if you want to stick with normal troops, you definitely need to lose those upgrades. I think you'll find the pathfinders don't do terribly much given the heavy weapons and how common fast assault armies are. The Fire Dragon exarch is costing you a lot of points, too. A single 18 inch melta doesn't help much when you have 6 more that can't hit.

Ditching some of those point sinks will get you some more models on the table, which I think you really need.

I put the Fire Dragons in the Falcon.

Also wow you really took apart my list JB man. I think I'm going to have some rethinking to do.

drop avatar for another farseer or yreil/autarch - reason if you not footheavy its going to be hard to protect the avatar while he moves across the field

DA exarch get the two guns drop the rest your not gonna use them for melee unless there is but one or two left after your squad unloads so your volume will again finish them off
there wave serpent drop the

personally i dont like the falcon because you have fire prisms you could take and they do alot more, the more of them you have but if you want to keep it drop the vector engines cause your low on anti tank at 1500 points and it wont have time to be a transport that needs that kind of protection

good call on the pathfinders 5 man is perfect for them I love dark reapers i just wish they were elites but against less MECH opposition they rock and Eldrad always a great choice.

This list won't do terrible against friendly armies is friendly games, but there isn't any competitiveness to it. You'll want to clean up some of the excess upgrades and takes some more units (but I'm guessing you stretched your points to get to 1500.

Eldrad + Avatar - The Avatar will be fine with this combo, just make sure that you constantly keep fortune up on the Avatar which will take some practie with pacing your movement and placement.

Guardians - Single shot weapons on guardians is always a recipe for fail. In this list you will want a Scatter Laser to compensate for your BS3

Dire Avengers - lots and lots of needless upgrades. Pick a role, shooty or Assault and go with the upgrades for that role (Hint: DA are TERRIBLE in assault)

Wave Serpent - Starcannons are garbage in this version of the codex. Never take them and if they are glued on, grb a hobby knife and end their misery. Vectored engines are really pricey for what they give you too

Pathfinders - Meh, but in a foot list your opponent had bigger fish to fry

Dragons - More pointless upgrades. These are not optimal choices for your long range gunboat Falcon.

Reapers - You can't use Crack Shot and Fast shot at the same time. For EML drop the Crack shot. Keep these covered by your pathfinders or guardians.

Falcon - Same thing on the starcannon as the wave serpent. Get an EML for it, drop the Vectors.

All in all, this list is stuck in 4th Edition/previous Eldar Dex, so I'm guessing you're a comeback player or bought an army online?

I try to do it in the most kind, but truthful way possible. To many people consider Eldar non-competitive so I have to teach the new recruits and returning vets all I can

Its certainly not the best list. In a 1500 point tourney it's more about good match ups though.... the game is woefully unballanced at that point level(troll, cough)...

Do some dice rolling and gaming with your pathfinders. I find that rangers are worth the extra 5 points per model back into my list. A fair few games they will spend plinking away at av 11 or heaven forbid 12, in which case all you really want is 6s on the second roll. 95/120 I will take the 95.

EML on falcon makes the most of it too.

I suggest you buy more wave serpents. This will probably be the biggest factor in your Eldar enjoyment!

Also why does everyone hate the Exarch for the Fire Dragons? One of the main reasons i run him with Crack shot and Tank hunter is because I'm tired of all the GK players which there are a lot of now running Storm Ravens with that Librarian combo to get 3+ cover saves. I can't stand it so for me to win against them I have to have the Exarch to scare them or to just win vs. them. Unless you guys know anything else that is good at taking out Storm Ravens that always have 3+ cover saves?

The best way to deal with a storm raven with a 3+ cover save is to not waste your time with it, hes set it up as a scary bullet sponge to detract your fire from more important targets. Remember that every single one of your tanks can move at the same speed. Position yourself so he can't multi charge your lines with whats inside the Storm Raven (and still needs 6s to hit). In this respect- Dark Reapers, Pathfinders and even the Avatar are all holding you back- they are slow and provide an ideal target for the Storm Raven unload its occupants on.

As for dealing with shrouding... Runes of Warding (which comes stock on Eldrad or 15 points on a regular Farseer). Against ld10, it blocks powers 50% of the time and forces perils 40% of the time. Brutal.

Oh, and be thankful that his 200+ point librarain is wasting his time zooming around the board in a storm raven and blasting himself with perils of the warp and only being able to fire a single gun through PoTMS. Your biggest worry should be your opponent figuring this out and babysitting his dreads with the librarian. The LAST thing you want is to be dealing with 3+ cover save psyflemen dreads... 4 tl s8 shots kills wave serpents dead.

EDIT: Long story short, Grey Knights are a tough as nails match up for Eldar no matter what you do. You can't out shoot them- their fire support is too strong. You can't outfight them- their close combat is too strong. The only hope you have of beating a competent GK player is to out maneuver him, and play extremely strategically.

The exarch for the Fire Dragons isn't the issue. Fire Pike + Tank Hunters + Crackshot that is the issue.

You have just turned a 18pt Fire Dragon into a 56pt point soak.

Tank hunters: is overkill. You sould always be trying to get within that 6" range of the target, so a majority of the time you are penetrating at 8+2D6, but ever when you are not you still are firing 5 shots at 8+D6 which is still a 50% damage rate on 12 armor (most common FD target). With Tank Hunter you are paying practically the cost of another fire dragon for that non-optimal scenario of not being within 6" in the hopes that 1 more Str will help.

Fire Pike: You are paying 8 points for a 6" range boost (3" melta boost) when you should always be trying to get within 6" for the rest of the unit. The common arguement for this is "well there is those times where you can't get everyone within 6inches" and my answer is will that 1 shot really make that much of a difference across the span of a game? 8pts is typically a vital upgrade elsewhere in a list. Hopefully we will see this become a 24" range (multimelta) in our dex update.

Crack Shot: With a Firepike or regular melta it is marginally useful. You have 5 shots of melta, is that one that gets to bypass cover REALLY going to make that much of a difference? If something has a 3+ cover... why the hell are you shooting at it with a melta in the first place? Crackshot is however useful with the Dragons Breath flamer, because now you have a S5 AP4 flamer that rerolls to wound and that will make entire squads disappear.

The exarch in general is not a bad upgrade. Yes, I did just say that. When it comes down to wound allocation with a 5 man unit you have to put 10 wounds on the squad before that exarch will have to take a 2nd save and with a 3+ he is typically getting armor saves. This will force your opponent to waste another round of shooting at the unit to gain it's kill point or risk letting the exarch roam free to blow more stuff up.
