I've seen a lot of army lists including Tervigon's and Tyrannofexes and I was just wondering, what models/conversions do tyranid players use to create such a creature?

Cheers

Mine are all kit bashed between the carnifex and other pieces from other models, as well as use of greenstuff. There's no actual profile for tervigon and tyrannofex, so you can convert a carnifex into either, my tervigon uses scything talons for legs, and using greenstuff, I sculpted an egg sack, like a spider.

You'll find most people use Carnifexes to make Tervigons and Tyrannos. First off they are all plastic, second, people used to have a ton of them in 4th edition because they were awesome and third....well, Carnifexes sucks now, so people recycle their old models.

See my gallery for pics of my tervigon. It's a carnifex with the chapter house conversion kit.

If you don't want to wait for an official model and don't want to make them out of a Carnifex and Greenstuff (just browse Tervigon and Tyrannofex in the modelling section), you have the following options:

Tervigon:
1.) Chapterhouse conversion kit (also other essential Tyranid conversion kits) http://chapterhousestudios.com/webshop/component/virtuemart/?page=shop.browse&category_id=34

2.) Puppet's War http://www.puppetswar.com/product.php?id_product=31

3.) OOP Armorcast Malefactor (ebay, original inspiration for Tervigon):

4.) Sadly, this Russion model is not available anymore:

Tyrannofex:

1.) Mythicast (also have a harpy-like model) http://mythicast.com/store/#ecwid:category=0&mode=product&product=6038261

2.) OOP Armorcast Exocrine (ebay, original inspiration for tyrannofex):

Blue Table Painting also has an expensive Alien model that can be used for conversions for both:

Any news on an official model for these guys?
Last I heard August was supposed to be the release?

Stickmonkey said there was going to be a Tyranid wave in August with a Harpy, plastic winged Hive Tyrant/Swarmlord kit, Tervigon, Parasite of Mortrex, single metal Ymgarl Genestealer and a Bonesword/Lashwhip sprue for Warriors, but said he never saw a Tyrannofex model, though it could have been a dual kit with the Tervigon. Then he said it got pushed back due to the metals in there (Parasite and Ymgarl) needing to be redone for finecast.

Seems that if it was true (others reported seeing the completed Harpy, likening it in size to a Valkyrie) it was lost in the shuffle. Being pushed from the August release put the Vampire Counts release in there, and with September and October full with Ogres and Dread Fleet, there was no room for the Tyranid wave to simply go back a month. With November or December looking to be Necrons, the Tyranid wave, if true, won't see the light of day until next year.

stickmonkey's long-range prediction was October. But such predictions are always tricky. We just have to wait.

I've heard all the models are done, I heard tervigon/tyrannofex in one kit like many new GW releases. That could explain why no sighting of a tyrannofex. I always thought it was very odd that nids (one of the better selling armies) had so many important models from the list unavailable. Can't think of another army with so many facets of the list missing - mycetic spore, tervigon, parasite, tyrannofex, harpy, shrike (I know there are Foregworld wings but no central GW figures!). Doom and warrior prime have to be heavily converted (IMHO a prime should be pretty different anyway!).

Eh, having 2 sets of the Warrior wings, I can honestly say they're better than what GW would produce in plastic. They're really nice and fit perfectly onto warriors.

Isengard wrote:(IMHO a prime should be pretty different anyway!).

There's a reason the Prime is listed under the Warrior entry description, and even described as 'the apex of the Warrior strain'. It's a Warrior. Simply adding some of those extra armour plates you get in the box to make it visually different it pretty much how a Prime should be.

I do agree that leaving the Harpy, Tervigon and Tyrannofex models out of the release was really poor form though. The Tervigon and Tyrannofex have become extremely popular, and I'd bet there's a lot of people out there who would start a Tryanid army if they actually had models.
