Recently, I moved to Osaka and today I set out to find a game store. I spent 4 months in the area 2 years ago and found a nice little shop in Nanba called Iconoclasm. But when I went back to look for it today it was not there. Does anyone know anything about this? Did it move or did Iconoclasm simply go out of business? Either way, does anyone know of any other places to play 40k in the Osaka area? Thanks for your help.

I hear Nagoya has a bit of a scene.

Tokyo and surrounding areas are my stomping grounds.

Hey. I'm pretty sure Iconoclasm is still there. I once set out to find it and never did, but I later figured out where they are. The store used to be visible at street level but it moved and is now all but invisible. Google maps street view still shows the old store, adding to the confusion. The homepage shows the new location reasonably well, but I know when I went I must have walked past it a dozen times without finding it.

I don't know anywhere else to play, but then I've never played a game and will probably be building my army for another decade before I even have enough to start.

Let me know how you get on though. Maybe meeting people active in the hobby might actually encourage me to make some real progress.

Check out out the GW events schedule on the jpn webpage. GW used to do a battle holiday one Saturday a month at multiple locations, including Osaka, but I'm not seeing mention of it.

Iconoclasm should be still around. I'm personally in Tokyo, so I can't help you out too much.

Yeah... they changed the GW JPN website in order to "standardize" it with the global website. (Very bad move IMO, considering GW stuff in Japan is still relatively young.)
GW Japan also withdrew its hobby centers from all areas other than Jinbocho and Nakano, so I doubt they have battle holidays anymore unfortunately. OP, I think the best way for you to do it would be to search for and find a "club team" that plays regularly. There are a few in Tokyo area I know of, but unfortunately my connections don't run to Osaka.

Last time I was there, and it was long ago, they had moved to a smaller place in 3rd or 4th floor of a building near Yellow Sub Namba. Don´t know if they are still there. I´m guessing the eternal crisis hit them hard and GW antics did not help either.

Y'know I might be in Japan in January, probably Kyoto.

Then let's do a Dakka Kansai meet. You can teach me how to play with whatever scraps of my army I've finished by then.

I won't be able to bring an army, but if you do a Kansai meet up, I would love to be involved.

My significant other will be out of the country for most of January, so I'll be able to meet up any weekend free of aforementioned wrath. If Miguelsan doesn't get SWMBO's approval you can use my place in Umeda, though I don't have a table or anything.

I work in Umeda, so this might work well.

January might not be the ideal month for the naked IG option, especially if you've got used to sunnier climes. I'll endeavour to put something together by January, but I'm building everything in separate components for easier painting, so I'm unlikely to be able to field more than a bunch of dismembered body parts and armour sections. 代わりにビールとたこ焼きを持っていくわ。

I will only have a handful of Chaos Marines with me, but playing 40k in any fashion is a lot of fun.

I studied there 2 years ago, but now I am in Osaka teaching English.
