Ok heres my list based on the info i have been sifting through.

Magnus the Traitor -6
Renegade +5 -1pt
Renegade +5 -1pt
Mangler +8
Steelhead Halberdiers (Leader and 5 Grunts) +4 AD
Steelhead Heavy Cavalry (Leader and 2 Grunts) +6
Steelhead Riflemen (Leader and 5 Grunts) +5 AD
Gorman di Wulfe, Rogue Alchemist +2
Kell Bailoch +2
Stannis Brocker +4
+any model may begin the game with upkeeps
+1 Wreck Marker per Jack in group

Magnus T4 is one of the best tiers in the game, well worth the investment if your getting into mercs.

Magnus is the only one in the whole game who can use the fantastic Idrians outside of menoth, and they fit into his tier too. Plus he can blur them for even more "you can't possibly hit me" fun. Tier 1 is his biggest bonus: extra points just for being him and taking things he wants to take. Something to consider.

This gets you tier 4, gorman who is an excellent solo, 2 renegades who have the amazing obliterator rockets, and a mangler which is sort of like a menoth jack. Also you get 2 small units of pikemen to back up your jacks and a full unit +UA of skirmishers who can run and gun with their assault and battery order.

not "any model," just warjacks and magnus (that's what a battlegroup is: caster and jacks/beasts)

Frankly, your list looks fine. A mule or Idrians or longgunners could add a little punch, but that theme works fine, and if all of your units are steelheads, you'll have a very easily expandable army (any merc caster in the game except for Shae can be fielded with steelheads).

If I were to make one change, I'd say drop the riflemen and stannis for a mule (I think magnus runs very well with two heavies, and snipe on a mule is a very solid choice).

I agree with this.

The only change I would make would be to drop the Riflemen and Kell to max out the cav and Halberdiers.
Halberdiers especially like the numbers.
Stannis makes both better. And is a beatstick all by himself.

Add Riflemen back when you go up to 50pts. Maybe putting in the Idrians as well.

As a tier 4 mags player myself I would suggest getting a full unit of halbs in there, drop the mangler for a nomad and you get the 2 points you need.
