Subject: 6000 Points of Chaos!
|
 |
Committed Chaos Cult Marine
|
Now please note that this list does not conform with the Force Organisation Chart in anyway. It is merely what I would like to build up an army to be. I will add notes about what I am unsure about after each section.
EDIT: This is not for a 6k point game, only an army I'd like to build up which oddly was 6k points.
The reason I post this is because I will still use the squads in standard , so I want info on what to change within the squads, not whole units being added or removed.
This list is pretty much based on the models I like the look of!
HQ
Chaos Lord - Terminator Armour, Daemon Weapon, Personal Icon - 150
Chaos Lord - MOK, Daemon Weapon, Personal Icon - 145
Chaos Sorcerer- MOT, Warptime, Bolt of Change, Personal Icon - 185
Ok the 1st Lord is purely because I want an undivided character leading the army, and giving him the Terminator armour seemed like a good idea to distinguish him from the other lord. The other Lord and Sorcerer are included because my army will most likely be followers of Khorne and Tzeentch.
Elites
Chosen - 10, Champion, Chaos Glory Icon, 2x Flamer, 2x Powerweapon, Meltagun, Rhino(Extra Armour, Havoc Launcher, Dozer Blade) - 320
Terminators - 5, Khorne Icon, 5x Paired Lightning Claws, Land Raider(Extra Armour, Dozer Blade) - 470
Dreadnought - Combat Arms, Flamer, Extra Armour - 120
Okay, the Chosen are one of my concerning squads, I don't know whether to make them an all comers force or make them specific to destroying tanks or infantry. I know the saying of the whole jack of all trades are masters of none but still any input would help. Terminators with LC because they look awesome imo(will be Space Wolves converted). The dreadnought purely because I already have one and enjoy the randomness of them even if they do attack my guys more often than I would like.
Troops
Chaos Marines - 10, Champion(Powerweapon), Chaos Glory Icon, 2x Flamers, Rhino(Extra Armour, Havoc Launcher, Dozer Blade) - 165
Chaos Marines - 10, Champion(Powerweapon), Chaos Glory Icon, 2x Flamers, Rhino(Extra Armour, Havoc Launcher, Dozer Blade) - 165
Chaos Marines - 10, Champion(Powerweapon), Chaos Glory Icon, 2x Flamers, Rhino(Extra Armour, Havoc Launcher, Dozer Blade) - 165
Khorne 'Zerkers - 10, Champion(Powerweapon), Personal Icon, Land Raider()- 465
Khorne 'Zerkers - 10, Champion(Powerweapon), Personal Icon, Land Raider()- 465
Plague Marines - 10, Champion(Powerfist), Personal Icon, 2x Plasmaguns, Rhino(Extra Armour, Havoc Launcher) - 365
Thousand Sons - Sorcerer(Doombolt), 9 Sons, Personal Icon, Rhino(Extra Armour, Havoc Launcher) - 347
Noise Marines - 10, Champion(Powerweapon, Doom Siren), 8 Sonic Blaster, Blastmaster, Rhino(Extra Armour, Havoc Launcher) - 395
Think the troop choices are pretty straight forward, Chaos Marines to make the bulk of the force with squads from each god to make it an undivided force, but prefers Khorne or Tzneetch.
Fast Attack
Bikers - 5, Chaos Glory Icon, 2x Meltagun, Champion(Powerweapon) - 225
Bikers - 5, Khorne Icon, 2x Flamer, Champion(Powerweapon) - 225
Bikers - 5, Nurgle Icon, 2x Meltagun, Champion(Powerweapon) - 265
Raptors - 10, Champion(Powerweapon), Slaanesh Icon, 2x Meltagun - 270
Chaos Spawn - 5 - 200
The bikers are purely because I love the models, although largely expensive both points and cash wise. The Khorne icon is going to be the main force for killing infantry while the other 2 are Tank hunters, the Nurgle icon was added purely because I love the idea of the stacking bike and icon bonus making those bikers Toughness 7 haha. The Chaos Spawn are pretty much to represent some of the Marines reaching spawndom as mentioned in the codex.
Heavy Support
Predator - Lascannon, Lascannon sponsons, Extra Armour - 180
Predator - Lascannon, Lascannon sponsons, Extra Armour - 180
Defiler - Combat Arms - 150
Defiler - Combat Arms - 150
Predators and Defilers are self explanatory I think. Defiler because it looks awesome and Predators purely for some decent firepower.
Summoned Daemons
Greater Daemon - 100
Greater Daemon - 100
Got two of these because I have one already and I plan on buying the finecast version of the Bloodthirster when I can.
So there you go, a 6000 point Chaos List.
Please note that this list was compiled in the very early hours of the morning, so the points may not add up correctly.
I thank anybody for looking and commenting.

That's a lot of Chaos!
I'm not gonna make out like I'm an expert, but I'll certainly pass on what experience I have of certain units..
I'm also not gonna sit here and say you should have certain missing units. I like that you've gone with units that you like the look of, and you've asked for changes to squads not removal and addition of whole units, so I'll respect that.
I'll just go through the things that leap out at me.
Chosen - This is a pretty expensive unit, and certainly trying to be all corners. I don't like it. For me Chosen are brilliant for outflanking in a basic rhino with whatever special weapons are appropriate. With melta guns, they can come on, take out a tank, and then mess up your opponents advance. I love Chosen. I normally include a unit or 2 of 5 with a few meltas in a Rhino. Cheaper, effective, and no identity crisis.
Terminators - They will definatily pack a punch, but at 470 points you would definitely want them to. I have no experience of using them in this way. I just use them in squads of 3 with combi-meltas, deepstriking. I can't tell you your squad is ineffective, but I can tell you that mine are, and a viable alternative idea for you.
CSM - Powerfists. Everyone loves hidden powerfists. You might also want to think about using a squad of CSM for sitting back on a home objective? Obviously people like using PM for this, but 10 CSM with a Missile Launcher or Autocannon can be nice to provide abit of firepower while they're sat back.
Predators - Both Las upgrades is abit expensive, general rule of thumb tends to be Autocannon/Las for anti tank and transport. Autocannon/HB for anti infantry.
That's about all I can say from my own experience, obviously YMMV, and I'm sure that other users will have totally differing ideas to me. But good luck with building the army!

Why you no Daemon Prince?
Other than that, I think Sioni summed it up pretty well. When you play this, come back and let us know how you do

Nice looking list. I like the csm base with added cult troop goodness. I agree largely with what's been said before, although I've just bought a unit of termies with a lr like yours so I'm with you on that. Just a quick one though, nurgle bikers are only t6 with both bonuses, but still very mean. Also if you slap a personal icon or two with the bikers you can get your lesser summoned daemons in charge range of the opponent all the quicker.

I mentioned in the OP that I was planning on using the units here in standard games, I didnt mean that this was going to be one big game. Ill edit that in though. As for the 0 Daemon Princes, I use one currently(will be getting another possibly) and it just gets shot down. Besides, as mentioned, this isnt a game list. Its more of an army I would just like to have and DPs just arnt that awesome I think.

Yea iv found out(the hard way) that going only one god isnt the best idea. So thats the idea behind the list.
Thanks for the input guys, Ill post an updated list soonish. It will either be in a few hours or tomorrow night.
Im going to try and write a background for this list aswell as its something I havnt tried yet.
