Hey all, I haven't seen a review here so I thought (actually, Cilithan thought) I could write a short one since I got it this weekend.
[Atmosphere] The atmosphere blew me away. I'm a big fan of the 40k fluff and the way it was brought to life in the game is great. There's all the skull symbols, the gothic buildings, the ancient technology, etc that you'd expect. Next there's the huge buildings that make it feel epic and too big for humans, it really gives a feel for how big the Imperium is and how old it is. When you walk around there are so many images that make it feel 40k, like huge space ships in the sky, servo skulls and models that we know like valkyries. Some of the bigger fights feel like they look in the art, bullets and lasers everywhere.
[Fluff] It mostly sticks to the existing fluff with some minor aberrations that didn't really bother me. It uses nice themes like the Ultramarines adherence to the Codex Astartes and sometimes struggling with it. There's some small things that I'd have like to be done differently, like the Thunderhawk and the jump packs sounding and looking electrical instead of petrol/promethium driven.
[Gameplay] As most of you know, it's a mix between melee and shooting with no real emphasis on either. This works out very well. Allthough the melee combo's might be simple if you're used to games like Ninja Gaiden, their simplicity is compensated by the insane carnage that you're creating. Blood, everywhere. Cool You can only hold 4 different guns at any time and the weapons are sufficiently different to make choosing fun and sometimes hard. The idea of having to finish an enemy to regain life works very nice together with the Halo like regenerating shield. It also forces you to chose between melee and ranged a lot, melee can easier regain life through finishers, range takes less damage and can easier regen the shield.
[Weapons] The melee weapons are a joy to use, all of them. They also look, sound and act as I'd expected them, especially the chainsword The guns are nicely different and great fun to use.
Spoiler:
The Plasma weapons are more difficult to wield and have to shed heat. The lascannon has the greatest sound every and is so much fun. The melta has been changed to a shotgun, much like in the Ciaphas Cain books and has great graphic effects. The stormbolter has an insane rate of fire and makes me wonder what they can do with an Assaultcannon There are some heavy weapons that you can wield during short periods in the game and they are a blast.
All in all, a must have for 40k fans and imo a great game for those that don't know 40k. If you have questions, feel free to ask.
Only flaws are the gameplay gets a bit repetitive and the story is stale/unimaginative. Basically a repeat of the Ultramarines movie with Orks thrown in at the start. Great game otherwise.

I haven't played all the way through it, but it has much less aimless wandering and more action than you can shake a stick at.
Unlike the movie.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios
The game is awsome.
Only complaint was some slight sound issues in the opening cinematic portion of the campaign(and only at the very beginning)
Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines
Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.
I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the multiplayer. I was fearing, and expecting, some serious balance issues but it is fairly well balanced and I feel like I can win as any class at any time (except against the damn meltagun... just haven't figured out how to fight that yet)
The best way to fight against the meltagun is from far away. So far my only complaint is the odd way the guardsman say LT. But otherwise I'm having a blast playing both the campaign and multiplayer. I just can't decide which I want to play each time.
