So if I have a terminator assault squad that is hit by a str 8 ap 4 hit, and they have feel no pain. They get their armor save, but do they get feel no pain. Its isnt instant death because they get their armour save right?

As far as I know the Ap Value is counted before the strength.
It's likely I'm very wrong

If it's double the models toughness and you fail your armour save it's still adios muchachos i believe
Your rulebook should have the rules for Instant Death and Feel No Pain, but i don't have page number on hand.

The fnp rules states that double your toughness is one of the factors for negating it. You would get your armour save but if your termies had more than 1 wound, it would still be instant death for them if they failed their 2+.

Instant death has no correlation to Ap or armour saves.
If the attack is double your toughness, regardless of whether you get an armour save or not, you don't get FnP.

the list of things that negate FnP is :
power weapons, AP 1&2, instant death (double toughness or otherwise), and anything that allows no armor saves ever. This falls under the third category of instant death so your termie that fails his save vanishes in a puff of red mist.
