Every list I'm seeing currently is using Ironfists on the Bulls. Is it really so much better than the extra attack that nobody wants to run Ogres with two big sticks anymore?

Supporting attacks are capped at 3 (the ogre base) and
you'd only be getting what, 3-5 extra attacks (one each for however many bulls you have on the front rank) with extra hand weapons, right?
I just think there's more benefit from the ironfists; especially now that they're regular shields.

Well, that just sucks. :/
*looks over at all his Bulls with two weapons*
I guess I'll just rip off the extra hand weapon and magnatize the Ironfist so that I'll be "forward compatible" with 9th Ed.

I just went with ironfists anyway they're spiky enough that they can pass for extra-weapons if I need them to.

Hmm I've been toying with the idea of small (4-6) ogres with AHW. Could make a good supporting unit for larger ogre units. But I like the idea of beartraps as shields, its so stupidly menacing!

I was thinking of running 2HWs
With Wyssan's on them (Yay!) You now have 4 S5 attacks per model. With 6 bulls, that's 21 attacks, taking supporting into account.
While it's not game-breaking, it's nice to have Ogre Bulls dish out some hurt now and again.

Magnets!
Thanks for the idea!
Extra hand weapons are brilliant on maneaters.
But with St4 I'm not as sure with the ogre bulls.

the question is, will you actually be able to get those 21 attacks?
the Ironfist gives you a 5+/6+ save. you will save 44% of the wounds you take(assuming there arn't any Str modifiers or AP involved)
thats huge. that is the difference between losing an ogre and saving that one wound so he's still alive and gets his 3 attacks.
and the entire unit benifits, as opposed to the front rank only.

Why in heavens name would you put AHW on Maneaters when pistols do the same job, and give a quick to fire ranged attack to boot!
I am a big believer in shields, and already had all my ogres with Ironfists, so it's no problem.

Because pistols are 5 points more. 5 points a guy gets you heavy armor, which is probably more useful if your are running an aggressive unit that will be marching anyway.

you are already running maneaters. you might as well splurge on the equipment and give them HA and BoHG

5 points on a Maneater for a stand and shoot reaction from my AHW. Sounds good to me! And I can give it to...some of them. If points are that short.

Maneaters with the brace are the bomb. +1 attack is good, but getting in some shots as you stroll forward is really nice. Maneaters want to be flanking, so them not running forward isn't horrible.
