We can't jeopardize the economy with government regulation, but Texas is a great example of government regulation. Huntsman didn't do much better either.

Were it not for some of his more...ridiculous....ideas (gold standard, abolish the IRS, etc.) I think he could do alright, but then he wouldn't be Ron Paul.

He's like the Ralph Nader of the Republicans. He makes little sense, he gets little popularity and he won't shut the feth up along with his supporters.

He does expand the debate, though, which is also what Nader does and there is something to be said for that.
On reflection, Romney came off really well, the polls tomorrow should be interesting.

I think if you had a Ron Paul who was a little less Ron Pualish you would have one the best candidates we've had in a long time

I think Ron Paul could very well be one of the best Presidents the country has had in decades. The problem is, some of his ideas are out there....like WAY out there, and it freaks people out. Would/could they actually help the country? Yea why not, the way its usually done isnt working. But again, some of his plans are just so out there that it makes people think hes a quack. He may be, but I know he wont ever be President either.

Well consider if he did get elected, none of the far out stuff would ever pass the current congress. So you'd have possibly more of the main stream stuff happening. I like Ron Paul and will vote for him. Considering that the press basically omits him in any coverage, he's got to be on to something good.

However, his idea to dismantle the Department of Education is appalling. Education is the single most important issue ever, and will, by itself, determine if I'll vote for a candidate or not.
His plan to leave education decisions entirely on the local level horrifies me. There are plenty of states and local governments that simply don't have the funding or the capability of running an education system. If the Department of Education was dissolved, we'd quickly see schools teaching creationism and biblical studies in the classroom, destroying the future of America.
Don't get me wrong, the Dept of Education has its issues and unnecessary bureaucracy. But, fixing it is a much better plan than just eliminating it.

His unwavering faith in the free market is another big problem. I do like his stance on the war on drugs though.
Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

What Ralph Nader Ideas don't make sense?
Seatbelts in cars?
Establishing consumer saftey laws?

I've thought a lot about this, and I'm ok with local schools teaching creationism. It's dumb and wrong, but who cares? Unless you go into evolutionary biology, you really don't need a working understanding of evolution to be a well educated, productive person.
Not to drag this off topic, but is there a dumber, more pointless debate?
Now, the 1st amendment issues of turning public schools into pulpits for religion is a civil liberties issue, but having half the country not learn evolution isn't exactly going to destroy the future of anything.

Not understanding Genetics leads to people thinking vaccines cause autism.... Not having a foundation in simple biology is detrimental to society and nothing in Biology makes any sense with out evolution.

I dont' think any part of that statement is true.
The vaccine controversy was a consipracy/moral panic. Knowledge of genetics had little to do with it.
Lots of things make sense in biology without evolution, at the high school level. You can understand how photosynthesis works or metamorphisis just fine without understanding evolution. Scientists want to understand the why, not just the how.
Physics only really makes sense with calculus, but a person can still learn the laws of motion without understanding every derivation.

I like what Ron Paul stands for (ideologically speaking). I don't like his proposed methods... I think they are going too far too soon. While I dont dispute that some, maybe even MOST of his 'out there' ideas are worth considering, I don't think they should be implemented in the span of a single presidency... even in the span of two presidencies... The changes he wants to implement (not that he could actually do that without Congressional approval) need to be done gradually, over a couple decades, not within 4-8 years...

Are you sure it's not working for the NHS that causes people to think vaccines cause autism?
