Does anyone have the original Photato pic for the Cities and Skaven stuff from a while back? I’m interested to see it in the now clearer context.
Pictures are here https://www.tga.community/blogs/entry/2493-rumours-update-18-march-2026/
They all check out even the Cogfort and there's a few bits still not seen yet.

The walking fort is one of the dumbest AOS concepts yet. A rolling fort pushed by ogres or something I could accept, but a mechanically walking tower is discount mobile game level of design. Why not just make a nice static terrain piece?
The gate gargants are staked to the ground in the front to stop them from walking backwards? It doesn't make any sense.
The heads on the Gallants look like they poke out too high above their breastplates, but the rest is good.
The design of the Grenadiers is very good (except the weird scatter gun and flame thrower). Kind of funny to see all the heavy CoS models straining against their buttons lol, but I don't mind them.

The Cogfort's aesthetic is nothing new. Howl's Moving Castle is popular for good reason. It fits the very high fantasy vibe well. I assume the gate gargants are staked down to to help them stand up straight even if something very heavy hits their shield? Could also just be to hint at them being less disciplined than regular troops and really needing them to stay put since they hold the centre of the entire formation.

Perhaps its jus to represent that the gun on top fires a MASSIVE single shot from all those barrels at once. So the stake is there to help them brace against the force
Also I want to know which one only tells lies and which one only truths

I figured it was to keep them in place/balanced for when the dude on the crows nest pulls the trigger on his BFG.

Oh, that is a brilliant call. It didn't even strike my mind considering Leadbelchers exist and these guys dwarf them, but it makes sense since the gargants may not know when their passengers will shoot.

Also physics - the guns are atop a long pole. That means the force of the kickback is no way near the centre of gravity nor mass for the gargants. So if they are powerful shot-gun type blasts it could just pitch them over backwards.
So instead they march forge; slam down a stake to anchor themselves and then BOOM big shot from the top with the chain and stake helping prevent the Gargant being thrown off balance backwards

I wouldn’t bring logic into this.
Not only would that cogfort not work, the whole thing would jiggle a part as it walked. Same when the cannons blast.
Also to defeat it the enemy would just need a trench or small flight of stairs.
So the weird stake in the ground is the least of the problems the gate gargants have. They are just a lazy concept that they already did with the ogor. The gate aspect is unnecessary when the shield wall of the gun guys can break formation and let stuff in or out.

For all those just ignore physics and logic
the weapons in general are inspired by late 14th early 15the century hand guns and cannons
but with those weapons it was either that they were not stronger than a crossbow so recoil wasn't a problem, or if they were stronger needed something to keep them in place after shooting
this was also why multi-barrel cannons became a thing, it was easier to get multiple small projectiles out than one big one for similar impact
