Love the new Skaven. Very glad that Square Based just dropped the new draft Renegades Skaven list for ToW so I have a reason to be excited about them! I bet they’ll look good on 25mm squares….

Had a proper look at the new Eshin.

Really nice update, taking advantage of never having to be ranked up.

But, and here I think is the best bit? We still see the weapons they had when they first came out for Mordheim. Fighting Claws! Generally Unpleasant Hand Weapons But Bladed Tonfi Sticks! That Double Handed Flail! Throwing Stars (Triskels?).

So, immediately portable with Sod All Conversion Necessary to Mordheim.

Oh happy days!

In a warband you generally don't need too many anyway!

Those Gutter Runners were really showing their ages by now, so that's nice for Skaven players. To be fair, they weren't even stellar for the time.

I think the stone components on the cogfort were tripping my suspension of disbelief too hard. Tweaking the stonework into iron plates nailed to a wooden framework shouldn't be difficult. And then maybe just make the whole thing sit on wheels instead of legs...

Both look kinda cool to me.

Metal as you say is more believable to the casual eye. But for a setting literally saturated in magic, stone works for me too.

One could always split the difference and paint it as slate? Maybe with the lowest section, which does things slate can’t really do because slate doesn’t bend as steel or lead?

Oh…oh no.

Plate metal or slate cladding? My sad little mind was thrown back to that time on Coronation Street when the Duckworth’s had their home, No. 9 Coronation Street cladded.

Dare I paint a Cogfort as No 9 Coronation Street?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
You’ll have to Google it I’m afraid as I can’t find a shareable image that’ll work on Dakka.

Gaaahhhh and they can be Mercs, which suggests a unique heraldry.

I’m making No 9 Coronation Street mobile, aren’t I?

I’ll be honest? If you’re just joining my sad knowledge reference? I will!

But I just want to check you’re not introducing a new No 9 pop culture reference. Such as Inside No 9, a most excellent tv show.

Or like, something else. Basically I just want to make sure I’m actually in on the joke, and it is indeed the same joke!

So did they announce the soft reboot/AoS End Times or was getting worked up over a rumor a bit of a waste of energy?

No mention of anything like that.

Not yet, but keep in mind, the guy who spread that rumor was the one who predicted:

* OBR
* Skaven
* COS
* and the eventual ogor and duardin stuff

Like they mentioned female gargants, gate gargants, cog fort, the eshin models and character, bone chariot, etc., etc. months before we go the reveals

So Boole has a record of being very reliable

I wish they would have made any mention of WarCry.

It’s actually really curious, they know a lot. But also seemed not to like AoS or favoured Old World. Seems a rather toxic way to be if in the design team or anything. Especially to dump it all out in such a way it seems.

I don't remember where this came from but I read over on TGA that the new Night Runners/Gutter Runners were originally designed for WarCry. Kinda makes sense with them being one kit that builds both since in the unit composition the Night Runners would be the basic WarCry guys, the Gutter Runners the higher rank guys and then the Gutter Runner leader, the guy with the bomb rats and the poison tank one being the "specialists" choices. So at least to me it aligns with how WarCry teams have been structured in the past.

Obviously could be completely wrong but if thats the case the fact they are in a new Spearhead starter supports the theorie that WarCry is done and basically replaced by Spearhead as a system now (even though it obviously doesn't fulfill the same individual model skirmish game role)

You're asking this in an incredibly disingenuous way, because there was literally 0% chance of GW announcing it at this Adepticon since this year is 11th edition.

GW will never announce or confirm a major release or refresh until they are either ready to start the sales hype cycle or have their hand forced by images getting leaked and requiring damage mitigation.

They especially aren't going to start talking about next year's big release until the current year's hype cycle has finished. So unless someone shares some Last World photos online, we aren't going to have confirmation until probably Winter at the earliest, but most likely Adepticon next year when they announce the AoS 5e box.

No, I'm asking about it because people have been talking about it in relation to the upcoming reveals at Adepticon over multiple pages in a very serious manner, including rehashing decades old arguments. This rumor didn't pop up months ago but just recently ahead of Adepticon. Since the JoM Spearhead wasn't announced I'm still only partially paying attention to AoS so I could have missed something that came out at the event, even if it was just a hint. This also isn't the first time people would have treated rumor as fact before confirmation and pretending no one would do such a thing is at least equally disingenuous as you want to believe I am being.

The rumor is about changes coming in the lore of 5th edition, so not something they'll talk about for a year yet.

Its pretty clearly all true though. Hints are there in current background, Boole was accurate on everything, other people knew about it independently and all the other reliable rumour folks have pretty much confirmed it.

I wasn’t able to watch the stream, but they don’t usually offer a firm date for the releases previewed.

But, it’s almost universally within three months of preview.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

I think it will stay in CoS because that always has not been a very imperial design and it is also not present in ToW.

The reason it's not present in Old World is because the Colleges of Magic haven't been established yet. However, the kit also makes/made the War Altar, which IS in Old World.

The war altar is a odd one as only some sprues belong to both, its not a dual/triple build kit in the same way some modern kits are. The war altar is its own separate kit that shares parts between the Luminark and itself.

I'd not be surprised if they retire the Luminark for a while (next edition) and then see it pop back up in a TOW expansion when they decide to expand to the colleges later on.

The Colleges don't appear until founded by Teclis post Great War and GW has stated multiple times that we're not anywhere near the Great War yet for TOW.

They're two different kits. The War Altar is available for TOW.

The Luminarch makes the laser cannon and the astrolabe. I have both on my workbench now.
