Subject: Two Biker bosses and two koptas in one unit - would this end well?

So I've been thinking about possible tacics to use sometime in the future and i made up this:
If your list includes two Biker Bosses, stick them to two Deffkoptas. This unit will be a all different multiwound unit (if you equipp them right) with tougness 6 (majority). Theyll crush anything in cc, plus they are ultra fast and have decent firepower (at lest 4 twinlinked big shootas/dakkagunz) they can even stand one or two krak rokkits and if they turboboot theyll have a 3+ cover save (the count-as jetbike koptas get that, and the save is rolled for any model in that unit if at least half the models have it .
Only downsides I can see are the horrednus cost (just use them in bigger games) and the impossibility to take my beloved kff mek... (but if you are playing a bigger game then you get more that two hqs anyway )
But I guess this unit would be great in a fun game, what do you think?

interesting idea... tough to wound, wound shananagins possible.. oddly I coudl see it being effective in low points games. I've done it before with 1 deffkopta and 1 warboss on a bike. take a 2 small groups of nob bikers and you'd have a pretty neat little biker themed fun list

They wouldn't be much cheaper than nob bikers, require an extra HQ slot and don'T get FNP or WS5. For fun? Sure, but biker nobz are probably going to do better.

They also wouldn't be scoring, have strength 4 or get a 4+ cover save (well warboss will but you really don't want them taking saves they don't have to) Only upside is the unit would count as T6 ... not sure that's enough for me.

A bare bones warboss costs for this role costs 125 points. The two koptas can be as cheap as 75 points. That gives 5 PK attacks and 4 ablative wounds.
To get as many PK attacks and ablative wounds, you will need to bring 4 nobs on bikes. 2 with PKs, and 2 without, for a total of 250 points.
Overall, I agree with Jidmah, for 50 more points, you get the ability to make your bikes scoring and the ability to unlock FNP.
Its a innovative idea, and I applaud thinking outside the box -- and strongly encourage more of the same. I think in this spot its only really a viable option if your just trying to save every last point in a small game.

they would get a 4+ coversave from the bikes, and a 3+ when boosting, because only half the models need to have the save for all in the unit to use them. Automatically Appended Next Post: labmouse42 wrote:Jidmah wrote:They wouldn't be much cheaper than nob bikers.

remember that we are talking about s10 pk attacs here instead of 9 (charging) with nobs. and, unlike nobs, s8 doesnt remove models here cause of the bosses T5
and no, i wouldnt use them in a turney .... Automatically Appended Next Post: Jidmah wrote:They wouldn't be much cheaper than nob bikers, require an extra HQ slot and don'T get FNP or WS5. For fun? Sure, but biker nobz are probably going to do better.

Two warbosses and two vanilla koptaz cost 390 points, you get 12 WS5 S6 attacks and 6 WS4 S4 attacks.
One warboss, three nobz on bikes, one upgrade to pain boy, a waargh! banner, an two pk also come in at 390 points and get you 6 WS6 S6 attacks, 8 WS5 S9 attacks and four WS5 attacks wounding on a 4+, usually with a reroll.
+ one less HQ slot
+ scoring
+ FNP
+ more PK attacks
+ better WS
- 12" less range for two models
- 1 less T for the unit.
From a competative stance, Nobz are simply better.

If you're running a Nob Biker list, this can be a viable alternative. You could then have 2 units of scoring nob bikers, and your even harder deathstar of 2 warbosses and koptas.
Keep in mind that str 8/9 shots can be taken on the warbosses, and weaker/stronger shots on the koptas, thus preventing ID.

I regularly run one biker boss with 1-3 koptas as a unit. Give the koptas rockets and you have a decent tin-can opener for the boss, not to mention 3-6 ablative wounds (depending on what's shooting at you). It actually works quite well, and once you've removed enough koptas, you get T6, which makes you nigh invulnerable to small arms combined with the 2 wounds provided by the kopta and the cover save you'll likely get.

Hey guys, now I made up the tactic wich to apply when using them:
If the opponent gets turn 1, don't deploy them together; this will lead to your enemy shooting the hell out of them. Deploy the Bosses in a 30man Boyz mob, and the koptas way back, so they can turboboost next to the mob to get the 3+ cs. When its your turn, move the bosses out of the mob and join them to the koptas, pfeferably whilst boosting (is it legal to join a unit while boosting?)
I you do this they will most certainly be undamaged in your oppnents first turn, because he doesn't know whats coming and shooting at two 3+cs koptas isn't the juciest choice. Only in your first turn will he see your plan and then it will be too late, as the 4 killing-machines will be halfway boosting towards him, and even if he caues 6 wounds (on T6 and with a 3+) hell not have a single model killed. Even instantdeating with S8 doesn't work here. Bolters will need 6s to wound. YEAH! And charging that squad would be quite foolish, as they are bound to rip apart nearly anything in cc. Eat that, 'umies!
A thing to conider is that nob bikers will draw your enemies attention (and with that his rockets) to themselves, while this deathstar wont.

So, why not simply put a full unit of koptaz with the warbosses? They biggest weaknesses, their leadership, is fixed by the presence of a warboss with a boss pole.

... Its a great shooting unit .... much better then say flashgitz ... 12" move and shoot, T4(5), Twin linked Big shooter and a warboss to make people think twice about charging. Though might work even better if they had wazdakka.

Wazzdakka is more expensive than a warboss though, I don't think his dakka kannon is worth the point costs. With wazzdakka you should also add rokkits to all koptaz, to make them shoot at the same targets.

Methinks Wazdakka is a little too expensive; Sure he got his ability to run an all warbike list, sure hes got his dakkakannons, but he isn't that great in CC and there is alot of wargear on him that just costs points (meks tools, kmb).
So yes, only real reson for buying him would be an all bike list. But if you aim at krupin' stuff, a boss on a bike does a better job for less teef (or points)

I liek wazdakka... turbo boost him with koptas for a biker boy unit and that kannon of his he can still shoot will do some dmg... I agree he is alot of points and str9 pk isn't as good as str 10... btu unless you're charging a land raider it shouldn't matter and even if you are 1 nob biker with the bikes plus waz = 9 str 9 pk attack.. probablystill going to wreck a land raider to be honest.
he's grat with a warboss on a bike/ nob bikers/all bikers list and its fun to play.. not a tournament list by any means but still fun to field and competative against most builds
