I love the idea of dropping dreads in pods behind enemy lines, so here is my first dread with its pod. I think it actually turned out rather well, though I will hope to improve on it with the next one.

As you may have noted the pod is magnetized so that the arms stay closed till I want them open. Currently I am working on stripping my army to paint them up in my new color idea, will post the results soon.

Hope you all like my first paint post here at dakka.

I think the white parts of the dread could use a little more love, but other than that I simply love this. The drop pod is absolutely gorgeous.

The Metalwork on the doors of the DP are spectacular.

However - one suggestion I would make- in agreement with Jimsolo - address the white - a Blackwash or Devlan Mud would look good - also the occasional 'silver' scratch on the insides/ends - looks like the hands are used for what they were designed. Sometimes a small amount of black before the silver swipe gives the impression of 'layers' of paint damaged.

If its the dread's pod, why does it still have the harnesses for standard marines?

Because let's face it Nowlan - who gives a hoot?

Once the thing drops with the Dread - he can keep the doors shut - no big deal. If he uses it for his Marines - drop the hatches and show off.

Meh - YMMV - I like the 'Tin' effect of the Hatches closed.

Because he doesn't want to shell out for a FW pod?

To the OP: do you really find the DP doors need magnetising? I have 3 pods and they all have doors that stay up until I need them lowered. Am I just lucky with fitting?

Necroagogo is correct FW pod is way more expensive and I got bills to pay

Thanks for the praise guys, I actually did a black wash but I think the flash from the camera kind brightened the white up, in person its not so pure white.

this is the first of planed red, white and blue dreads.
