Hey guys, first post here. I'm going out tomorrow to buy a Necron Battleforce and a Necron Lord to start me off, I want to do something different with these models and their bases, so, I was hoping you guys had some ideas for me ?

Thanks in advance.

I've heard of a couple people taking the neon green sprue and grinding it up and using it as or with their normal basing materials as crystals of sorts. I'm actually thinking of doing something like that on some of my Necrons. Not something you see too often, but one that is fairly simple to do.

Sentinels of Baal - In Progress (roughly 2000 pts, ~35-40% painted)
Lizardmen - In Queue
Pre-Heresy Death Guard - On Deck

Hell, if you're wanting something unique, make them water 'Crons. Trim them up to their ankles and glue them down then use a water effect tool to make water bases for them.

Who says machines and water can't go?

I AGREE with oppl

you could also find a really dark metallic blue to paint them with
or copper with verdi gris

Go to a thrift store and start buying up old headphones, especially the kind with an attached boom mike.
The jack has a suitably necrony look, and the pieces you get from smashing them with a hammer are great.

You see, to Auston, everyone is a Death Star; there's only one way you can take it and that's through a small gap at the back.

I ordered some bases from Dark Arts Miniatures for my Necrons - the lava bases to be exact.

The story behind it was, that the Necrons have awakened on this planet and drained him of all life, until there was nothing but an empty lava-waste left.

As always, enjoy and have fun!

If you are looking for something a bit more personalised then I'd go with with the "Battlefield in a box" Crystals. Found here - http://www.flamesofwar.com/Default.aspx?tabid=143&art_id=2314&kb_cat_id=71. Brother Khiros' idea of using the ground up sprue sounds pretty good as well.

Also welcome to Dakka

Rock chips primored black and then drybrushed grey can make a stark landscape for your Necron army.
