What are the top three crusader armies?

Are they competitive?

Do you mean Black Templar army builds?

Black Templars would make the list I would guess.

And follow up: are there more armies with that background besides Black Templars? And are Black Templars a competitive army?

The Black Templars are on a constant crusade pretty much. You can do a competitive army with them right now since they can take two special weapons in their terminator squads and get to take either furious charge or tank hunters, so you can have five squads with 4 S9 missile shots each.

So for around 2k points you could take a Marshall in terminator armor with a terminator command squad with 2 cyclones and tank hunters, 1 Chappy with the same, 3 sword brethren terminator squads with 2 cyclones and tank hunters, and then 2-3 crusader squads in rhinos depending on how you kit them out.

5 tank hunter squads at 2k is overkill IMHO. You won't have enough points for more than one rhino, and you won't have any points for wargear for the HQs other than termie armour. I'd drop one command squad and one of the normal squads, giving you loads of points left over. For those you could get three typhoons, upgrades for the marshal and rhinoes for your troops.

Black Templars get cheap Land Speeder Typhoons and Predators.
