Me and my friend are new to 40K in general so there is LOTS we haven't discovered yet. However, I was wondering how running into cover works. I know that when running you get to move 1D6" and when entering cover you have to declare it, roll 2D6 and choose the highest roll. This number is the amount of inches you can move towards cover. However, my question is if you declare your going to run, declare your going into cover, what do you do? Do you roll 2D6 of one color (green) and 1D6 of another (blue)* and add the highest of the green roll to the blue roll, and that is the amount in inches you can move towards cover? I apologize if this is confusing but I couldn't find an answer in the rulebook. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

*The blue represents the run roll and the green represents the two cover entry rolls.

First off: My friend and I, not "Me and my friend"
At all times a run move is 1D6 (Unless you have bounding leap, A tyranid rule) Or similar rule.

This is only for the movement phase, Run is done in the shooting phase and is handled as my above response states.

Simply no, running happens in the shooting phase, and run moves are never slowed down by difficult terrain. (See run, P.16)

Running happens in the shooting phase.

1d6 is rolled for the run distance regardless of whether you are running on open ground or in cover.

Thanks so much, I learnt about correct grammar AND how running into cover works. This solves a little problem that my friend and I have been having.

In the future, all college students should cleverly disguise their term papers as questions about WH40K, so that pedantic posters can proof read them for free.

Just remember that if you run into cover you don't have to take a difficult terrain test, but if you run into cover that is difficult and dangerous terrain, you still must take the dangerous terrain test.
