Hello,

I was playing a tournement about a week ago and my opponent and I ran into a disagreement. When I wrecked his transport (not exploded) he took a pinning test as normal for all his troops, failed, and then placed them all next to the transport. Is this right? I thought that would actually affect the troops because in the rule book, it says after a Pinning test, all model that cannot disembark are destroyed. Im not sure about this one the rules are pretty unclear.

Thanks, Max

Not sure what the question is.

Are you saying that since the unit is pinned, they therefore cannot disembark and are destroyed? This would be incorrect; if you followed the order of events described on p67 under "Destroyed - Wrecked!" properly, the unit would only take the Pinning test after they already disembarked.

Yes that is what im saying. So basically a explodes result is the only thing that can kill the infantry inside a transport?

Yes, and only if they are killed by the Str4 hits or the unit can't fit where it must be deployed due to enemy models blocking the way.

the remains of a wrecked vehicle are dangerous terrain, meaning that models that move in it will take a wound on a roll of 1 with no armor saves allowed.

Thank you. And one more quick clarification, all that happens after they take the pinning test is go to ground outside of the transport?

Assuming they fail, yes they just go to ground outside the transport

Yep, you got it. They hit the ground following the emergency disembark rules, fail the test and go to ground right where they landed.

No. You can suround the transport completely and wreck it in close combat leaving the infantry no place to disembark...Actually all you really have to do is block the hatch since they have to exit out of that unless it's open topped.

Until they perform an emergency disembark, and you realize you should have surrounded the vehicle.
