So you can take options and you have to take two additional weapons above the initial two DCCWs. What do you guys typically take?

Thanks

To make the dread a little cheaper, you can add just one DCCW arm and a skorcha. It helps shrinking tarpit-units one of the deff dreads only concerns in close combat. Some people also like big shootaz, which is kind of a taste thing. Rokkits or KMB don't belong on a deff dread, unless you maxed out on Kanz and Buggies and want even more shooty.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

I was thinking either a skorcha or a big shoota. The former to be shooty as I close distance (and at 3 shots and BS2 one of them should hit at least) and the latter to give a nice hit before I assault.

I would go 4x DCCW. Thats like, what 7 attacks on the charge, at str10 with WS5 (or is it 4?). You are going to nom nom just about any unit.

Which are power weapons.

2 scorchas are dirt cheap and kill alot of fings, espeially non power armor stuff. plus there is nothing ranged to shoot with, so you can run without wasting potential in the first few turns. only downide woud be that you might burn yourself out of charging range, wich happens often to me....

LOOK!! a shameless self-promotion! (gasp!)

1) 3x DCCW 1x Skorcha : Cheap loadout. Gives the Dread a weapon which doesn't use its crappy Ballistic skill, and also gives it something to do if it's immobilized vs the 4 DCCW option.

2) 2x DCCW 2x Rokkit: Doesn't seem like it'd really work well, but I've actually had some success with it.

3) 4x DCCW: Awesome close combat choppiness, but it's expensive, no shooting options if you're immobilized, and honestly if 3 DCCW won't do the job, I don't see how 4 will.

More important than weapon loadouts is to ALWAYS give your Dreads Armour Plates and Grot Riggers.
