I just discovered Dakka today while looking up some random 40k stuff, and since it's got the first active wargaming forum I've found, I figured I might as well join.
About five years ago a friend of mine, who had just gotten into 40k, dragged me to a regular game at a local store, I was interested after watching a game, but when I saw the Tyranid codex I immediately fell in love. Over the course of a couple years I collected enough models to field a 1000pt army which has seen most of it's action tearing through my two friends' Marines, Imperial Guard, and Tau in 500-1000pt games. I enjoy assembling the models and building terrain, but it doesn't feel worthwhile unless I can field them as an effective fighting force.
My nids haven't seen action in about a year now, so I'm looking into local groups that meet regularly, while also figuring out how to field my army in 5th edition.
