To those people playing Dead Island, what's your take on the running zombies? I just hit chapter 3 so I don't know if there's anything more annoying than them, but it makes me rage so hard when I'm fighting something else, or even fighting one of them head on, and they just run up to me and flail their arms hitting me like 4 times and taking away half of my health bar. I know you can kick them (and it can't be interrupted) to stun them, but when you're fighting two or more, and from more than one side, it's damn near impossible to get away from that fight without being near death.
I suppose fury mode works (so far I've only played the drunken quarterback guy), but you only get that like once every 15 or so minutes. Runners come at you a bit more frequently than that.
I've tried throwing weapons at them too but more often than not it doesn't stun them

I just use a bat and hit them just before they reach me. You can always throw shizz at them, too.

You just have to time your hits right (memorize how far apart your kicks are, too, so you know exactly how many infected you can afford to kick and how often). The analog control scheme can help a lot with this, but it's kind of hard to get used to. Your weapon's force rating matters a lot too, as it increases your chances of knocking an enemy down or breaking/cutting off their limbs and making them useless. Fire weapons aren't good for dealing with infected (they'll just keep running at you and burn you as well), but electric weapons definitely are, so when you get access to electric mods, definitely give those a try. You can also try kicking one and then turning tail and running to space them out a bit more and to give you more room to breathe (just be prepared to attack the second you turn back around). Since there are so many variables and every action is a split-second decision, it's hard to give a really clear-cut way to defeat an enemy. All I can really tell you to do is just spend a bit more time with the game. You'll figure things out eventually. Always keep your wits about you and don't ever try to settle down into a specific pattern when dealing with waves of enemies. Also, I definitely recommend a good pair of headphones if you have the option. Either that, or a good surround sound system. Knowing exactly where your enemies are at all times is very important, and sound is often your only option. A TV speaker just doesn't cut it.

Yeah, I could use some headphones. I'm currently using speakers that I suspect are reversed. Is that something I hear coming to my left? Hmmm nothing over thereOH GOD IT'S BEHIND ME NOW.

Lmao, been there done that. Oh and pressing Z for rage mode crashed my game. It's like playing minesweeper on your keyboard.

Dogma, you dog. Anyway, I also forgot to tell you that one good hit to an infected's head will almost always take them down (even if it is difficult to pull off). They have a hell of a lot less health than Walkers do, actually, and I find myself smashing their heads in rather easily. You can also break their arm as they're swinging at you to cancel their attack(s), which is always satisfying, though a bit less effective.

If you love the infected you'll definitely love the warriors.
Being Xian it's just kick, cut off head/arm repeat.

I just wait for them and kick them as soon as they get within range. They always stamp their face on your boot and then you can just spam them with swings
The coolest infected takedown I did however did not employ a kick: I was on the beach walking, then I hear an infected from afar screaming "AAAAHHHHH". I look around and there's this black guy with a baseball cap running at me from like 100 meters away. Screaming. So I had this paddle, and I said "ok". Waited for him, and when he approached, I bashed his head. It was like "AAAAHHHHHHH" *thunk* "HUUUGH" *dies*. I laughed my ass off for 5 minutes, I swear.
