I know this has sort of been covered already, but I want to present a case..
First. It has been Eratted that you do add +1 for additional Jokaero for all rolls.
Second. It has also been stated that 6 Jokaero net zero benefits , since you just cannot ever roll Less than a 6.
My first point is that the Roll of 6+
The Works States four things:
[*]Roll Twice more
[*]Apply Both Results
[*]Only Apply any upgrade once
[*]Ignore Duplicate Results
My first point, is that it says
roll twice more. It does not say reroll, but specifically Two times.
The second point, is that It also says to
apply Both results, which would naturally come from rolling two items.
My Third point, It then Clarifies that can only get
any upgrade once, now for some benefits like the 5++ save or the Rending, applying it twice is not beneficial, but +1 Armor save or +12" Range, that would be very usefull.
Up until here. I think everything is very specific and clear.
Lastly, it says to
IGNORE duplicate results (specifically 6+).
This is where it falls apart. What does IGNORE mean?
From the Dictionary...
ignore
1. to refrain from noticing or recognizing
2. to reject
Now some/many have come to understand that it means that if you roll a 6, and then a 3 and a 3 all you get is
3: Reinforced Armour
I do not think that was the intent of the rule.
Very Very similar wording has been used in other game systems, and the intent there has always been that if you get equivalent of
The Works, you will always get two Upgrades.
My comprehension of Ignore Duplicate results, is simple..
If I roll a duplicate, I ignore it, it never happened...roll again.
Now, yes. They did need to put in the erratta...
Q: For each Jokaero Weaponsmith in a henchman unit
after the first, you add +1 to the Inconeivable
Customisation roll. Does this mean that if you have 6 or
more Jokaero in a unit, that they will receive no
bonuses (as you cannot roll less than a 6 and duplicate
rolls are ignored)? (p50)
A: Yes.
However that only answers the extreme case of 6 Jokaero.
It does not specifically answer, or address what does ignore mean, or answer the question of what happens if you Roll a 6+ and then a 3 and a 3.
