I'm wanting to make me an Inquisitorial Army under Grand Inquisitor Torres (counting as Cortez) with no... no.. NO Grey Knights. So had questiongs on modeling the various henchmen that will make up the army. Mostly. I'm going to be using Cadians to fill the rank and file. For arco-flagellants... maybe base them off of some of fantasy's Empire Flagellants? Banishers I'm going to represent with priest looking models. Crusaders I'm thinking of using Empire or Bretonnian models. I'm likely not going to be using Daemonhosts. I've got some of the older metal servitor models that I'm going to use as servitors, those are the easy ones! I have no idea what I can do with the jokaero weaponsmiths. According to the writeup, they are large orange apes. If I HAVE to use them as apes, I won't use them. But would I run into much problem to use another model that just counts as one? Not sure how to model a mystic or psykers. I've never been a huge fan of the metal guard psykers but those might be my only option? One thing I do know is that i have some arbite enforcers that I won't to use, likely being warrior acolytes with some of them being crusaders and one that will represent a banisher.. probably use the cyber dog to replace that stupid eagle. The Rhinos and Razorbacks and Landraiders I don't mind using, they are easily converted to have guardsmen manning them instead of GKs. Subbing in valkaries for stormravens? Still haven't figured out a way of modeling dreadnoughts or a nemesis dreadknight to remove the GK/Marine thats inside. But I'm also wondering about how much trouble I'd run up with subbing in similarly armed models to represent the various GK squads.. like using modded up greatswords (again from the Empire line) as a purifier squad. Things along that line. Also, anyone have ideas for power armor/terminator armor that aren't in marine power or terminator armor? I really really like this idea I'm picturing of Chaos Knights (from the Fantasy line) modded up to fit in somewhere. I've never played in an offical tournament but would like to some day and may like to use this army, but would I even be allowed because I'm not using GK/Marine in the GK choices?

And lastly... anyone have ideas for modding up a Cortez stand in? I'd consider using my Inquistor Lok from forgeworld.. but the sword broke and I can't get a good fix for it. Like I said, maybe I'd use the cyberdog I got when I bought the arbites, but it would need it's own base. I do have regular dogs that are small enough to be on the same base, so that might be better to do.

Mystics?

Pretty much any generic hooded 28mm human.
You don't need to see faces.
You don't need to see hands.

Something like these.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Worst still is that FW took that model off the site so I can't replace him! I think I'm going to make a Cortez by kit bashing lots of fun things together.

I used a SM captain model (changed his axe into a hammer) put an old Inquisitor scale =I= icon on his pack, glued a spare eagle I had to the icon for my Coteaz.

My crusaders are some of my old metal SM bolt pistol scouts with shields and batons (and helmets).
My servitors are servitors (I have 13 of them).
My Jokaero (2) are old Ral Partha sasquatches painted up like orangs.
DCA are some fantasy figs with swords and gimp masks.

If I go through with this army idea, most of the GK units will be replaced with lots of fantasy based figures.

I just finished up a Henchmen army. I used Dark Eldar for Assassins, Bretonian Men at Arms for Crusaders, Chaos Mauraders for Flangelists. I also have a number of counts as. Mordheim dogs for six aditional Flangellists.

My army consists of
1 Inquisitor Lord (ca Librarian) with 3 servo skulls,
Torres
Assassin (Vindicar or Callidus)
6 Henchmen squads
3 with 4 crusaders, 4 flangellists, 4 dc assassins
1 with 4 flangellists, 8 dc assassins
1 with Shooty, including a couple servitors with plasma cannons, a couple weaponsmiths, 2 Warriors with plasma guns, 1 warrior with melta gun, the rest warriors with hot shot lasguns
1 with 3 power fists, 3 crusaders, 6 Dogs (ca Flangellists)
1 Imperial Chimera
1 Inquisitorial Dreadknight. Piloted by an inquisitor vs Grey Knight

Another option for Purifiers if you're willing to stretch the concept a little is Banishers. Again, conversions would be needed, but it'd be worth it for the added flavour to the army.
Spoiler:

To be a Banisher is to seek out knowledge many believe is best left buried. They combine lore with faith, without failing to bring a flamer to bear should it be necessary. Their will is fortified against the madness which accompanies such endeavours, for they must go where few dare. They must be prepared to face many horrors in their search for manuscripts, ancient legends, and even the true name of a powerful Daemon.

Also, as for psykers, maybe use the primaris psyker model? It's a lot nicer than the normal psyks.

I used Ghouls with Flagellant heads as psykers in my Penal Guard army, maybe that's a good starting point?
