I was playing a game of 40k and an issue came up. If I assult a unit, and then assult the same unit with a different unit, does the opponent get to hit back both times?
Example:

OOOOO
XXXXX
Y

geanstealers(O) assult a squad of terminators(X) and I resolve that assult. Then, My Trygon(Y) assults the same unit of terminators. Does the terminator sqad Get to deffend against my attacks both times?
All help apreciated.

"As I looked into its dead black eyes, I saw the terrible sentinence it had in place of a soul. Behind that was the steel will of its leader. Further still I could feel its primogenitor coldly assessing me from the void. And looking back from the deepest recesses of the aliens mind I perceived what I can describe only as an immortal hunger.
We can slay the tyranids on our worlds, blast their fleets from space, grind their armies to torn and ruined fragments. But their hunger? That is beyond our ability to slay."

Not sure what you are asking here.

But I will try and help.

Starting at the highest initiative, those attacks are made, and casualties are removed.

Then at the next highest initiative surviving models get to make their attacks, and casualties are removed.

Then at the next highest initiative surviving models get to make their attacks, and casualties are removed. Etc... Until models at the lowest initiative have attacked. then the combat is over and you move on to the combat resolution phase.

From your example it seems you think that the situation was two different combats, this is incorrect.

It is all one big combat.

Edit: you declare all of your assaults then move all of your assaulting models, then defenders react. Only after all these steps do you make Close Combat attacks.

The entire affair is resolved as a single combat with all members striking at their respective initiatives. So the terminators would only get to attack once, but may (or must) split their attacks between the stealers and the tervigon depending on the actual positions of the models.

Thanx. Between the two of you, my questions are answered.
