No this is not about Ah'nuld and his killer cyborg from the future but those armored space marines. I tend to see a trend around town and I thought I would put up the poll to see if it is a common trend outside of the local area.

With that in mind:

Which Terminator style do you prefer and why? What makes them the tops for you? Is it the look, or is it the way they play on the tabletop?

I prefer the durability of a stormshielded Terminator.

Nothing lasts forever like a SS/TH Termie.

Hammernators are strong. Hammernators will solve all your close combat problems.

I have crushed damn near everything in my path with Hammernators. Incubi? Hammer time. Tyranid Warriors? Hammer time. Howling Banshees? Hammer time. Even against low Initiative enemies like Orks... still Hammer time!

I would pick the Space Wolves Terminator with WolfClaws/SS and a CML

I prefer the hilarity of a Deathwing Terminator with TH/SS and a CML.

Chaos termie champ with mark of khorne and 2 Lightning claws, will murder anything. Or with mark of Slaanesh so it goes first over every other terminator.

Dem claws.

My favourite Terminator is in the 40K section, instead of Dakka Discussions...

Since I can't throw my vote for the Stormbolter/Relic Blade terminators from the Daemonhunters codex, nor Psycannon/Halberd terminators from the 5e GK codex, I'll toss my vote for Hammernators. They're extremely durable, and murder just about everything in CC.

Furiously charging preferred enemy lightning claw terminators tend to rob people of their trust in their TH/SS Terminators supremacy in the assault phase, so claws for me.

I voted for lightning claws. A pack of khornate terminators with twin lightning claws is yields a hilarious amount of power weapon attacks. I kitbashed a squad khornate lightning claw termies using the forgeworld conversion kit.

Hammernators for me.

Deathwing termi of pain.

CML, TH/SS. Guaranteed to annihilate anything.

Hmmm.... Hammers are probably the logical choice. I do like Chaos termiy champions with MoTz and claws though!

Theres nothing quite like Dicing a 20+ blob squad of guardsmen with 5 pairs of Lightning Claws... Hmm thats good cooking.

I don't even play SM, but I treat any terminator squad rocking TH SS with the utmost respect. (I.E. i shoot the crap of them and their transport first.) LoL

A Black Templar assault terminator with lightning claws and furious charge.

On the charge, that 4 swings each at initiative 5, strength 5, re-roll to-hits, re-roll to-wounds, with 2+/5++ saving throws.

Game wise it's Thunder all the way baby! they just are so languidly confident swinging massive hammers into the enemy! but aesthetically I much prefer the image of the twin lightning claws, up close and extremely personal, just looks mean as a cut snake!

Oh dear... I was thinking that the Deathwing Assault rule let me assault after i deepstrike in.... It does not though. Dont know what the hell i was thinking of. Major by me.

As an alternative - Deepstrike in behind you CCS with 4 storm bolters and an assault cannon and shread you with a hail of lovely rending hits. Or a flamer and just incinerate you.

For this edition it's hard not to go with the TH/SS terminator. It's just so easy to use, and (except for SW's) so obviously undercosted as to be the default configuration in 90% of cases. Throw it on the table, point it as something, rinse/repeat. 200pts for 5 dudes with a 2+/3++ and 2A each with a Thunderhammer, not a whole lot of need for command ability there, you can muck up something fearsome and still pull out ok because it's just so difficult for the opponent to do anything to them.


That said, visually my favorite is termi's with either a cyclone or an assault cannon.

For practical use on the battlefield I always pick standard Termies with one with a missile launcher.

But for which ones I actually PREFER, I'd have to say Assualt Termies with hammers, the models look fantastic and the style of play just screams fun for me, death for you. Presuming you ignore the high points cost of a squad of 6 and a Land Raider to put them in of course.

I think Terminators with SS and TH would be the best, their durable enough to get close to anything and do damage

As a BT player I prefer lightning claws

Salamander Hammernators! Into the fires of battle, unto the anvil of war! Throw into a Redeemer for extra fluffyness.

I love terminators but too bad i don't have any of the new guys. :( I want the newer ones, but they are so dang expensive its either them or a land raider.

The Ordinary guys look awesome.

But the thunder hammers and storm shields are freaking awesome +3 invulnerable save hahahaha Bring it.
