Here's why I'm asking; my fiance loves green. Really loves it. She wants to paint our troops green as a result. After much though, the only colour scheme I can think of where green works is green/khaki... which is more or less what the Cadian 8th uses!

I can't think of another colour scheme using green for the life of me; if someone could help me, that would be great. On the other hand, if green/khaki is not considered boring/unimaginative, I don't mind using it; but I'll have peace at mind if I can avoid such a fate for my army that I love (enough to drop close to 2 grand on).

Hmmm good sir this is a question of personal taste...

I like the 8th Cadian colour scheme for it seems very iconic.

Though others could easliy counter thats iits boring and most people use it.

It's a good color scheme. Generic, sure, but it's a good one, don't let that stop you.

Like all the paintschemes on the GW box art, it may seem somewhat vanilla but it looks good. The 'Eavy Metal painters wouldn't have painted them that way if they wouldn't look good. 8th Cadian is an attractive scheme, and they look great on the tabletop.

Gathering the Informations.

You can actually use that olive drab body armor/weapon color scheme with practically any form of fatigues.

It's glorious in that it's such a neutral green that it's feasible to blend into any kind of terrain.
Want a winter uniform?
Grey fatigues and green armor/lasguns.
Want an urban uniform?
Brown fatigues and green armor/lasguns.
Want a desert uniform?
A lighter tan and that green armor and you are good to go!

Etc, etc, etc.

So what if the scheme is used alot? It's a good scheme.

Reverse the color. Or go Catachan and Rotting Flesh. A mottled brown SHOULD look good with OD green, but I've never seen it work out on Cadians.

Well, there's a few other color schemes you can use.

Green cloth, black armor for example, or reversed. Brown instead of black can work here as well.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

I use Graveyard earth on Armor and helmets, khaki pants- shirt, with Catachan Green slashes. Pouches are Graveyard earth and Scorched Brown. Sgts and Officers get Scab Red Shoulder pads...Graveyard Earth has become a primary color in my IG army.

but you could always just flip the pattern and make the clothes Catachan and the armor Khaki....

There is also a regiment in DoW2: Retribution where cloth is fairly close to a OD green color, while the armor is more of a dark/regular green. Forgot the name.

Cadian 8th is really unimaginative for the simple reason that its a realistic color scheme and not a "neon light sign" uniform like half the armies have.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.
