I agree with you, clean is good, especially for a model that looks so much like I-robot.
Generally white is difficult to paint. Apart from white paints often taking on a powdery texture, the real problem is finding the right color for the shadows. Black looks wrong normally. Blue has a certain effect to it and makes it very cold (not neccessarily a bad thing, here it works). Grey is an option but tends to look boring.
As you can see I'm in the middle of that same dilemma with my Aleph...

Well done! Very gritty!
No critique, only something that caught my eye, in the pics it looks like that red stripe on the ground doesn't continue under his foot. MAybe it's just the blue highlight of the sole that looks like the ground.
