So last week I went to 3 of 9 LGS in the greater Cincinnat to find some of the new Ogre stuff. Specifically the Stonehorn kit/Finecast tyrant and a peek at the Army book.

Only 1 of the 3 had the army book. 2 of the others had zip. 1 having received only 1 stonehorn. The other receiving nothing.
This week I heard stores will still short of product, getting only in 1 copy of the mournfang cav in one of the partnership level stores in Dayton.

So my question to the group or some of the LGS owners...

1) is there a shortage? Did you not receive items that were pre-ordered?
2) Are you not pre-ordering items b/c there is no way to judge player interest with the short release cycle
3) Is there an issue at the distribution (ACD & the like) b/c they can't get a handle on how much to order to supply an LGS without carrying too much inventory. ie. They don't want to get stuck w/ product on the shelf.
4) Other?

If the point of new Marketing plan iis to generate a quick buzz and quick sale of these items then WHY THE H*LL ARE THEY NOT ON THE SHELVES OF THE FLGS? If this is the expected future state of getting items in the LGS then I could order direct from GW (btw... Locals who did received their order 5 days in front of the release date) which I don't believe is their goal with the process.

Sigh..

Ogres aren't that popular, so most store owners aren't going to spend a lot to put unsellable stock on the shelves.

This past weekend, Showcase Comics appeared to be fully stocked with pretty much all the new Ogre thingies, plus even the new plastic characters. I picked up the new saurus old blood to build and then not get around to painting for a year or 12.

Sounds more like your local owners were probably worried they wouldn't sell as well as space marines do, so didn't order as much. If there's something new that you want I'm sure they'd be willing to pre order it for you.

There is no shortage at GW stores in the US. The stuff is just sitting on the shelf. I have yet to stop in a FLGS to see what they got.

Probably no interest. If I was a store I wouldn't stock my shelves with a bunch of high priced ugly models unless my customers told me they wanted them.

2012- stopped caring
Nova Open 2011- Orks 8th Seed---(I see a trend)
Adepticon 2011- Mike H. Orks 8th Seed (This was the WTF list of the Final 16)
Adepticon 2011- Combat Patrol Best General

So. You have approximately 70 thousand points of Warhammer stuff listed in your sig, but you throw out the disposable troll of "high priced ugly models". Really?

Total Finecast Models purchased: 30.
Models with issues: 2
Models made good by Customer Service: 2

It is possible for someone to like GW's games but not like their Ogres...

I went to my FLGS this weekend. They didn't have any of the Ogre book in stock, it seemed. I didn't look for the miniatures. One of the regulars had a copy of it, though, and I assume he bought it from the store.

I'll second the "Ogres aren't very popular=not very large initial orders" notion. It's also not a very large store but they stock a very wide variety of products, so I'm sure space is a factor for them.

I'm concur. Up until this release I didn't even know Ogres existed as a separate faction. I found them fairly underwhelming. Not sure the "new marketing" really did much to influence the stocking on this, so much as perhaps they just aren't all that popular. Also, hey, there are wood elves? Man WHFB has a lot of factions.

WHFB has as many different army books as 40k has codices.

The only faction to have multiple army books is Chaos (Daemons of Chaos, Warriors of Chaos, Beastmen)

All of the FLGS that I went to lately have had a large stock of Oger's. It seemed to be moveing pretty well to.
