Personally, I'm aiming to get hold of the BL limited editions. Tempted by one of the marine boarding captains too, I don't play marines but it's one damn cool model.

Also, this'll be my first games day. This could be a how longs a piece of string question, but how much cash do you think I'd need to take to have a good time without going broke (whlst avoiding models / single item purchases that cost over... I dunno... £50)? £100? £200?

Similarly, to anyone that's been to GD 2011 in any other country, any tips on what to keep an eye out for?

Ok cool for your GW to do that and I thought it would be their but I live in Sunderland so it is a fair way away to get their on a minibus. Even if their is abput 4 gw's within a 20min drive so yeah.

£10 per seat from the wakey store, pretty good value imho. Early start though, i gotta be up like 5.30am

Ask you flgs, they might have something cheaper than youre expecting

Went last year, had a good time, can't afford the £30 ticket and the £25 coach fair. Granted I could get there from Brighton by train for nothing, but I still couldn't afford the entry fee, spending monies, etc.

Oh the joys of being a student...

Surely the best reason to go would be to help people realise that lower cost resin being used in the same moulds as the metal was is making them pay erm.. more? Oh and as a side effect have the GW staff held hostage till they lower the prices

j/k. Well, maybe...

So we all pay GW £30 to tell them they're charging too much for Finecast...

Who said anything about paying? Picket the event Might let the "vocal minority" as GW see em show they're not much of a minority. Or then again they might recalculate the price hikes and put it only the worlds richest 10 people can afford them

Is there any chance of this thread not turning in to a GW bashing attempt due to cost / materials used etc etc etc

I'm genuinely interested in the subject and would like to hear from people that have a relevant answer....

As an American who's new to the hobby, I think it goes without saying I won't be there, but I reaaaaally wanna be there. Kitch, you bring your camera, and show us all the stuff they do (especially the Necron stuff, if those rumors are true).

Hi Kilroy

Beasts of War may be covering the event with videos etc So keep an eye out for that.
Not that means Kitch shouldn't bother!

If you are planning to go to Forge World, I would wear heavy boots. Seriously you will be mobbed by pushy people who then pass their lists to the front so their friends can buy stuff. It is similar in Black Library too (but a little more civilised! I think it is the books :p ).

Last year was very fun, it is worth looking at all the stalls, Golden Demon, the computer game stuff, Fantasy Flight (if they are there again!) as well as the Stalls and tables in the main hall.

As for Cash, how much are you comfortable to spend? £100 to £200 if you have it would get you far on the day.

Armies | Space Marines (Void Knights - Own Chapter), Space Wolves & Dark Angels | Imperial Guard Cadian and Kasrikin | Grey Knight/Sisters/Inquisitors | Empire - Hochland | Britanan (Relics) | Mordor & Gondor |

Hello, although I'm a static Zero.
I'm fighting all your wars.

Take as much as you want to spend- generally there are only a few limited things that you won't be able to get elsewhere plus normally they have a limited stock of whatever new models/books will be coming out the following month. Of course Forgeworld is there but other than that it's just the same stock you can get in your local GW or the website. With the added bonus of having to carry it around with you all day and home on the coach...

Every GW store normally runs a coach by the way.

From the original resin masters, the very same ones used for the metal production. Until we see stuff specifically designed to be made in Failcast (The Ogres *may* be the first of these, we don't know the lead times on Failcast switching, when the OK models were sculpted etc.) you will not see a difference between a metal model and a Failcast model when undercoated.

Agreed, the moulds are from the same original sculpts- the point is that it's new moulds and not the same ones.

I can definitely see a difference between the same finecast and metal models when undercoated...
