So, me and my wife need a game to play, and I don't feel we got appreciably far enough in WAR, so I think it warrants a revisit. I really love the art and setting, I felt the game design in some areas really dragged the game down; however that was many years ago. Also I've found myself really looking at the WAR artbook for inspiration lately (such a good book with such amazing art), so I think that may be tugging a bit as well.

So, anyone still playing? Good server to play on? Good classes for a duo? Any tips? We haven't played since shortly after release.

You can play the first 10 levels for free and for as long as you want I believe so that should give you an idea if you want to do it or not, though it doesn't really give a sense of what the RvR is actually like once you get to T2 (11-20).

As for jobs, going Destruction or Order?

IMO, Warhammer Online is a superb game completely ruined by hideously imbalanced classes. Or at least it was. I haven't played it in a long time, but I remember Witch Hunters being spectacularly better than Witch Elves, to the point where their counter class couldn't really kill them, Ironbreakers being vastly superior to Blackguard, Warrior Priests being nigh-on invincible, and Bright Wizards... well, generally whenever one showed up I might as well just stop trying.

YMMV and things may have changed.

I have no real advice other than to mention I think there's only four servers, so I don't think you can really go wrong with any of them.

Well, before we went Destro, so maybe we will try Order this time, but I don't know. Probably will pick on a whim I always kind of wanted to be a Blackguard.

I usually go back to it about once a year for about 2-3 months and enjoy the hell out of it until clan drama kicks in and I remember why I left MMOs in the first place.

The Game is really fun and as long as you play with close friends/ people who do not take personal issues with other clanmates too far to the point where they are fighting themselves more than the enemy, it's really cool.

I would prolly start it up again if I knew a group that outside of the game looking to start back up. Or not, since I need to finish painting models first and usually I become horribly addicted to MMOs until drama kicks in. >.>

I just left a couple months ago, and IMO if your thing is purely PvP play, then you should have tons of fun. If you enjoy just as much or more PvE then you should look at other games.

The biggest reason that I quit the game (again) was that I enjoy PvE more so than I do pvp. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy PvP, but I seriously enjoy doing more on the PvE side than against other people.

The game was fun, pvp was a blast until around level 30(?) when people would only queue for the lava map that was horrible, knockbacks are great, AOE has been calmed down since my days and castle sieges are fun.

I quit when people decided it was more efficient to not defend castles and keeps and just let the other team have them so you can take them back again for the bonus, it was stupid, assuming that is fixed it is great fun.
1-10 only gets you into battleground pvp, you don't get to do castle sieges until the 11-20 bracket iirc.

This is true. Though, the guild that I was in we would NEVER give up a map until they actually captured the keep. You get a ton of renown for defending, and the cap bonus is still great, you just don't get the XP for a "failed" defense.

I used to play, Dark Elf Sorcerer called Lolfluff (and a Witchhunter called Runhoseinfried Friedhosen).

Sorcerer was insane in PvP when one of my goblin shaman friends constantly healed me. Completely ignore dumping the mechanic causing me to do more damage but hurt myself, and just do massive damage. It was a while ago though.

Yea when we initially played my wife rolled a sorceress and I was a DoK; last time I went back everyone yelled at me for not healing because I just wanted to cut faces.

And this is why DoK should be allowed to cut allies faces.

Even though the PVE isn't a draw, I'd like to fight those big warhammer demons since I am such a fan of the universe; not to mention how tired I am of WoW.

Since Blackguard wasn't in at release I might play that (GG MARK JACOBS, YEA)... I don't suppose they ever got those cities in there huh? I suppose I could do some research as well before I jump back in.

I still play. Not as enthusiastically as i used to, but i still log in a few times a week. The free to play content has been bumped up to level 15, tho youre still restricted to tier 1. Tiers 2 & 3 are usually quiet, and tier 4 can still get a little crazy. The scenarios have been switched up, and usualy get another switch up every time a patch rolls around; certain scenarios are also featured on weekends (The Weekend Warfront). theres only a few servers left to choose from, populations vary throughout the day. If youre looking for a good duo of classes, the ironbreaker and warrior priest combo and be pretty effective.

I really enjoyed PvPing as a Shaman healer but the levelling was just too boring so I stopped playing.

The question isn't why do I kill. The question is, why I don't kill everybody.

A Knight of the Blazing Sun and an Archmage would be a good duo.

I played one of those to level 10, they absolutely terrify the enemy team.

Only the mad ones use a two hander, always one hander and shield!

Ah something good then.
It was my only character, played it on and off to level... 18?
One hand and shield was the better load out IMO.

When I played, around level 20 you get a shield wall ability that you can channel and it hits people back for small damage when you use it

.. but the kicker was, i discovered it scaled with strength
so with full dps gear, i would rush the enemy team and use it, absorb the first volley, get healed, and then run around executing the heavily wounded team

I played BO to 21, took a break and came back when they added Choppa and got it to 40.
