Hey there Dakkadakka, I need some help making a fluffy Imperial Fist list. From what I have read the are big on their swords, and they are seige experts. So what is the best way to represent there fluff in an army list?

I have some models already I would like to try to use which include: a terminator armor chaplain, 5 shooty termies, and 15 marines. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks dakkadakka

A usual I.F army would include Lysander purely because he's a I.F character, however I don't think Lysander is that awesome. So I would take the units which I.F are known for and paint them yellow basically.

Whne I played I.F I used double Assault Terminators and Land Raider Crusaders which was alright, these is going back a year ago when Land Raiders were hot but now the meta game is established as mech there's a lot of melta about which can deal with Raiders.

If I was doing I.F again I would probably take triple Vindicators, 4 x Tactical Squad, Scout unit and a Master of the Forge for a cheap HQ.

Lysander is really bad. I would go for the discipline aspect and go for foot slogging marines. I think you would want 30 termies with 6 cyclones to start to make this work.

Foot slogging Marines are really bad too.

I didn't claim my idea would be competitive. Though I have heard of builds I haven't really considered it. You may be able to build a good foot slogging vanilla marines army. What is more stubborn would be a good skill to have for it.

I didn't say you did . I don't see the point in saying something is bad and then suggesting a bad idea, kind of hypocritical isn't it?

Just giving a review of the character he is bound to play then suggesting a play style which seems fluffy to me without reviewing said play style .

Thanks for the replies. I have looked at doing two squads of termies and maybe a ven dread, but it just didn't seem like a siege type thing. Would whirlwinds and vindicators fit? Then what about troops and elites?

You probably want to start with triple Vindicators. For Troops, Tactical Squads in Rhinos or Razorbacks that have Dozer Blades. As for other stuff, maybe Sternguard that take Heavy Flamers?

Three thunderfire cannon lists suggest siege to me. Where do you get siege and swords from by the way?

They go well with telion and scout squads. Then you need some antitank and some units to support the cannons at the back. It could be done.

Is there anything more fluffy than foot slogging marines because the marines want to show off. Now you can just take tyranids? tyranids list.

You may do, but it depends in the skill of your opponents. Foot slogging Marines last until turn 4 with me

Is this your playing with them or against them? .

This would be a new thread to ask how to play this.

Also how do you find drop pod armies as they tend to become foot slogging armies against some opponents?

Against them. I don't run anything on foot unless horde or needed i.e Tyranids. Mech is superior at the moment.

I don't want to know how to play Marines on foot, so I don't need to open a new thread. Why don't you open a thread and tell everyone how awesome Marines are on foot and see how many people agree with you?

Drop Pod works differently. Doesn't walk across the table like you do with Marines.

I can't find the source, but I seem to remember that IF also really like plasma.

EDIT: I could be confusing them with one of the * Angels armies...
