So tomorrow's going to be my first real game with eldar so I'm hoping for a little advice.

The list looks like:

Farseer, runes of warding, doom - 95

5x Fire Dragon - 80

7x Scorpion, exarch, claw, stalker - 144

10x Guardian defender, scatter laser, warlock, destructor - 130

Wave serpent, TL scatter laser - 115

5x Dire Avenger - 60

Falcon, extra shuriken cannon, starcannon - 150

5x Dire Avenger - 60

Falcon, extra shuriken cannon, starcannon - 150

Also any advice on tackling tau would be appreciated

With Tau keep your Falcons away from his Railguns and take Shadowstrike o nthose Scorps to Infilrate them right up in his face. Also, drop RoWarding, they have no psykers

Overall list advice

Swap the Warlock to embolden, switch falcon starcannons to EMLs, drop underslugs, and try to find points for Holofields (especially against Tau).

Overall, treat it like a learning game

What? Tau? No match up. I'd tank shock them to death.

I took the RoW not because it's useful against tau but because almost every army I play
against has at least 1 psyker so it seemed too good to be true for the points.

For the falcons I could try the EML holo-field falcon, seems very interesting.

About the guardians, now that you mentioned it they seem quite suspectible to
morale, so I'll try with embolden.

And for the scorpions I tried to get shadowstrike but wasn't sure what I should drop :p

Congrats on your new army. Eldar are very rewarding one you get the hang on what all the units do, and how they work together.

I would use your 10 points to get back your Guardian Squad with a Shuriken cannon or something. They are not fantastic troops. But chances are, your enemy will be shooting at the bigger more obvious threats.

Try to have fun, and do not get too frustrated by the steep learning curve of Eldar.

RoWard in pretty much a must, but if you know you will be playing Orks, Crons, or Tau then you can save yourself the points.


You lost focus a bit it seems, you have a 5 man Dragon unit that will never make it anywhere on foot before it is gunned into oblivion and a 8 man DA unit that won't be able to put out enough firepower to make it's self useful.

Try out this tweak:

Farsee w/ Guide, Doom, Stones, RoW (guardians)

x7 Striking Scorps + Exarch w/ Biting Blade, Shadow Strike

10 Guardians w/ Scatter Laser + Warlock w/ Embolden
Wave Serpent w/ Scatter Lasers

Falcon w/ EML, Holos

The Dragons were dropped because you only have 1 Serpents so it becomes a matter of priority. You have 2 Vehicles firing 3 S8 each so you should be covered for heavy army except a landraider which you would need to sick your Farseer on, warlcok on, or just ignore it. At 1k points that shouldn't be an issue.

A bit late but thanks for the comment, played the game and noticed quite much the same flaws you pointed out :p

Also noticed that banshees could work better than the scorpions thanks to fleet.
