I want to give my grey hunter, a boltgun and a bolt pistol/plasma pistol, what would be the rule on that do i choose which one to fire each turn? according to my codex it looks legal to have i just wanted the communities take on it.

Regular infantry can only fire one weapon per turn, you chose which the will fire if you have multiple weapons.

It isn't legal. GHs come with Bolt Pistol, CCW and Bolter. You have to replace the Bolt Pistol to take a Plasma Pistol.

You are correct that you can only choose to fire one per turn though.

grey hunters come standard with a bolt pistol, a bolter, and a CC weapon.

you can replace the bolt pistol for a plasma pistol.

you can replace the bolter with a flamer, meltagun, or plasma gun

you can replace the CC weapon with a power fist, or power weapon.

Thats about it.

Yeah that's what i was thinking, the bolt pistol/plasma pistol part was just me not having decided which one i want, this entire thought was brought on by me wanting to make a model essentially dual wielding guns.

You can hold a bolter in one hand. Just have him dual wield a Bolt Pistol and Bolter. At least a couple of my grey hunters dual wield pistols/bolters.

Also, no one has called me on it before, but I have a couple that have two bolt pistols. I count the second one as his 'close combat weapon'. Muahahahaha

depending on what unit I am facing, my standard moves with a grey hunter squad, regardless of weapons is the following:

7 grey hunters with a melta, wolf starndard, and wolf guard with a combi melta, powerfist

Scenario A) opposing unit will likely defeat grey hunters in close combat and have no cover ( think large groups of genestealers)

Rapid fire into the unit with 6 grey hunters, 1 melta shot, and a bolt pistol shot from the wolf guard. Grey hunters thin out the unit and wait to get assaulted and use counter attack. Thats 14 shots total. the most you can pump out.

Scenario B) grey hunters need the charge, or odds are solid for CC resolution.

6 grey hunters use bolt pistols, 1 melta shot, and a bolt pistol shot from the wolf guard. then the unit assaults, and perhaps uses wolf standard if needed.

Wolf Guard get CCW/BP. You trade one of those for the Combi-Melta and one for the Power First. That means he doesn't have a BP to shoot.

Both scenarios are illegal; Wolf guard with Combi-melta and Powerfist(if that is what you are saying you have) canot have a bolt pistol, they only have Bolt pistol and CCW to start, both of which get exchanged.

If you are saying a random Grey Hunter has the P-Fist you are fine, just your presentation of equipment is muddled.

Ha! Beat you, KK. Also, if the second scenario is true, the PF should be on the Wolf Guard anyways. 5 points less for +1 Attack.

oh, good catch, a combi melta is a bolter, not a bolt pistol. I have been playing that wrong the whole time. so in scenario B) the wolf guard would not fire at all, unless he wanted to waste his melta shot.
